One of Final Fantasy 9's most important mini-games is the Chocobo sidequest. After finishing the Festival of the Hunt in Lindblum, the Chocobo's Forest opens for business. From that point until the end of the game, this quest spans out to become the most rewarding quest in the game.
Chocographs
Finding Chocographs
Finding Chocographs is a remarkably easy task, though actually gaining the Chocographs will take a little bit of time. By travelling the world and visiting the different "Chocobo Forests", your party can collect the Chocographs listed below. On occasion, you will also dig up a Chocograph Piece. There are 6 Chocograph Pieces; when you have all 6, the Mist Ocean Chocograph (that wields the ability to fly) will finally be yours.

Cracks and Bubbles
Along your travels through the world of Gaia, you may run across one of several cracks and bubbles, either lying in the mountainside or in the water, respectively. These places, just like the Chocographs listed above, have treasure in them. By using a dead pepper, you can dig through (or dive underwater) to grab the treasure inside.

Chocobo's Air Garden
Chocobo's Air Garden is the very last "Chocobo Forest" type area in the game. Floating in the sky, the only way to find this area is by searching the world for a slow moving, circular shadow. When found, entering this area merely requires floating above the shadow on Choco, and feed him a dead pepper. Within, the last (and best) of the Chocographs await!
For more information on the Air Garden, please see our Chocobo's Air Garden page.
Healing Beaches
As a reward for finding all of the Chocographs and cracks / bubbles (including the one under the Shimmering Islands), the last part of the Chocobo's Side Quest is the most rewarding yet. It is slightly time-consuming, but the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
Once you have all of the treasure from the quest, take Choco to the Air Garden and talk with the Fat Chocobo. Fat Chocobo will tell you to visit all of the beaches in the world. What you must do, therefore, is go around the world and press SQUARE while on top of every beach. Once you have visited all 22 beaches and pressed SQUARE, a message will pop up and you will be healed. From that point forward, every time you walk remotely close to a beach and press SQUARE, you'll be completely healed. Enjoy!
