ok...this is rather serious...i was in third hour yesterday and we were watchin a movie(pirates of the carribean if it matters not) and i got an uneven chair and started squeaking it[rocking back-forth] and this pissed everyone off so they all started yellin and screamin at me...and then this black(not saying racially) girl went all ballitoc on me...then after 7th hour....i was walking passed her and said "fat black b*tch" so she threw her books down chased after me and grabbed me by the neck pansy punched,slapped twice,choked me half-to-death,and threw my books across the hall!...then today at school she went and told the counselor that i had called her a "nigger b*tch"..which everyone of the witnesses said no to!..then she tried to make it look like i wrote her threatening letters and on one she(or someone) wrote "will you go out with me" ok this might seem bad but...then i got called into the disciplanary director and he wanted me to clearify what i said to her so i said to him when he asked me if i said"nigger" i said flatout "NO!" he said "well in my mind i look at you and see this happening to you by mistake...well i think the statement "black" is gonna get you outta school suspension (sure enough it did) but if you had said"nigger" you would probably had been expeled or longer suspension but if you had just said "b*tch" and not "black b*tch" you would have just got a couple days CC(confined classroom-in school suspension) "

Well don't get the idea that there wasn't any fault on your side. Firstly; I don't blame her for getting annoyed at you squeaking your chair. I don't know how old you are but if you're above 12 you really should have learnt better by now. Secondly; you shouldn't have followed it up by insulting her when you were in the wrong in the first place. Thirdly; I can throw insults as well as the next person, I agree that sometimes its' justified, but you shouldn't ever insult someone with something they can't help.That goes for things like color, race or disability. Why use the word "black" to insult her? I'm not surprised that she took it badly because its' obvious you were using it in a derogatory way, which was wrong. And it reflects badly on you too; you couldn't find anything else to insult her with, so you resorted to her colour? Makes it seem like you didn't have much reason to have a go at her. It's all very well to have racial views, but you need to learn to express them more diplomatically before you express them at all.

On the other hand...I'm afraid it's true that people will use any remotest sniff of a racial insult to get as much as they can. And that's not right either, and can blow things completely out of proportion, and it sounds like that's what's happened here, unfortunately. As it is, I think the best thing you can do is not make more of an issue of it, and let it blow over. Apologise if necessary. Racial issues are really not something that it's wise to get into. Have your opinion by all means...but if you've got something against a particular race, don't blame them for retaliating. Wouldn't you do the same?

But anyway, this is getting petty now. You can debate music in the Entertainment/Literature forum, and there's no point arguing over the finer points of this issue, Benjamin. We're just commenting on the impressions of the event that we've formed. Obviously we weren't there so none of us know exactly what happened, but you'd still be wise to listen to what we have to say. If you want the advice the members can give, then this is it, in a nutshell:

1. Don't squeak your chair and not expect people to be annoyed.
2. Avoid racial insults.
3. Avoid the revenge idea. It won't do you any favours.
4. Don't descend to this 's level and get embroiled in some huge quarrel- it's not worth it; just walk away. If she's exaggerating the situation then calmly state that to whoever is investigating it. Get them to talk to people who wittnessed the event if necessary.
