Zidane's True Love

Anybody know about the Trojan War and how it started? Menelaus, king of Sparta, had his wife Helen taken from him by Paris, the prince of Troy. Here's something interesting. Paris, according to Homer and the Iliad that he wrote, is a bit of a wimpy kinda dude but he has this "cuteness" look in him since a baby. That gets me. Wimp? Homer creates a character called Hector because he's "less wimpy" than Paris?

I like to note that in other Iliad translations, Paris is also named Alexandros. And Final Fantasy. You can see a lot of related events between Final Fantasy and the real world. Here's one example, even if it does seem minute or non-related at all. Ironic Garnet til Alexandros the 17th seems to be hinted a "wimp"? I disagree.

However this does further prove my theory that after marriage, her name will be Garnet Tribal or something a little more fancier. Just something I like to point out. Any thoughts?

Now that you mention it I kinda do remember that....in a mythology book that is ^_^

There was this one book a friend showed me, a mythology book that is and when I read bits of it.....I couldn't believe some stuff I saw in it..Odin,Shiva,Alexandros, everything o_O it was like Final Fantasy is mythology ^_^ which it is ya know? hehhe I kinda took notes on some of the things related to FFIX and Mythology...the trojan thing I never noticed.

I guess it is weird when ya read a mythology book and find out some FFIX related items in it :)

Yeah, did you know that Shiva's some male god worshiped by the Hindu culture? I think that's right.

And Odin? He is the god of wisdom in a culture I have yet to find out but I know he's the god of wisdome someplace. Others depict some rather common or common-sense kinda familiarities. Leviathan, the water serpent, as an example. It is interesting to see that there are some Greek Mythology and mythology in general apparent in Final Fantasy IX, if not Final Fantasy in general.

I found a buncha FF summons in some of the school mythology
books! there's Bahamut, Shiva, Odin, Alexandros &
CACTUAR!! http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~ff9/ikonboard/files/lol.gif
nah, j/k.. :P

the only thing I could remember was this part of the book
defining the gods... it stated that Shiva was a goddess ( or god...)
of Death. o_O I totally didn't expect that!

Yeah! What about Alexander the Great? He was pretty darn powerful, and so was the Eidolon! o_O

Shiva, in Hindu culture is the God of Death, and/or creation, I beleive. With multiple arms and such, it's a very symbolic type of thing. We just wrapped up Hinduism as a study in History.

And the FF series also has a lot of Norse references...

Ragnarok. The norse end of the world/war of the gods, but also a kick-ass weapon! ^_^

There's more, but they escape me at the moment...

Actually, I think this could be a discussion regarding mythos in all Final Fantasies. :) We haven't even screatched the surface when it comes to naming the other references to mythology that is found in FF9.

As far as the references to Alexandros and Alexandria, I always associated those more with Alexander the Great and the City of Alexandria in Egypt. Anyway...

Bahamut

Natrually, I'd talk about him, no? Heeheehee... Bahamut is a giant whale in Muslim myth. He carries a bull and a giant jeweled mountain on his back, which is called Kujara.

Gah, there's a lot more to mention. We've had topics like this before, so if you'd like to bring up more mythological references, and there are TONS of them, by all means, feel free! Just keep it to FF9, please. (Then again, if we get into other FFs, I'll just moveaga this on over to Gen FF) :)

Not nesecarily. She's the queen, now, remember? This means Zidane will likely marry into her family, not the other way around.

Anywayl, as far as references are concernd, I do believe Alexander and the city of Alexandria (since Alexandria was named for it's guardian; Alexander) were both named after Alexander the Great.

If you have any other questions on references, The Final Fantasy Compendium has a great list of name origins, it's really cool, and I highly reccomend it, if you're curious!

Yeah I've noticed things like that too, I think its cool how it all leads back to real life. Like for instance that Gaia is the Greek word for Earth (Wow I actually learnt somthing in Science! =-O )
