final fantasy legends?

one of my friends got a gameboy game called final fantasy legends 3. I was wondering if this was the same as final fantasy 3, and if it isnt then is there an entire alternate series?

it isnt final fantasy 3. its part of final fantasy but not officaly one of the games in mosts eyes. like ff tactics, its really old and theres pnly three of them

ah I remember this....this was a real classic game indeed :) very fun to play with and I loved it a whole lot ^_^
