What is RPGSite?
RPGSite is a venture of ours - a general RPG Site to go alongside UFFSite.

News, Reviews, Previews, Articles and Editorials on RPGs past and present. Think IGN, but sticking to just RPGs. Think RPGamer, but not part of that horrid "Advanced Media Network".

Content on RPGSite would not be as extensive as it is on UFFSite. We must have coming up on a hundred pages or something stupid for FF9. This won't be the case. RPGS will simply be made up of:

Reviews & Previews - As you would expect from any gaming publication, URPGS will be reviewing and previewing all the latest games, as well as building up a comprehensive database of reviews of classic RPGs, to let people know if that 'golden' oldie is worth buying after all.

News - As and when it occours, all the latest RPG gaming news.

Features - Editorials, Special Articles, and the issue of the moment in the RPG world all at your fingertips, with content regularly provided by the URPGS writers.

An example of the type of Review we'd be after, by yours truly, can be found over at Club Skill. An example of a review is my Sonic Rush (http://www.clubskill.com/Game_Reviews/2217/What_a_Rush!_-_Sonic_Rush_Review) Review, and an example of a preview my Perfect Dark Zero Preview. (http://www.clubskill.com/Game_Previews/2181/Is_PDZ_Perfect?_Full_Perfect_Dark_Zero_Impressions )

Neither are perfect; my reviews tend to be too wordy and long, but that's besides the point. A more URPGS example of a review would be the review for Disgaea (http://www.uffsite.net/Alex/rpg/Disgaea.htm) that I wrote to give Phil an idea of the kind of content a design should accomodate. That, too, is way too long, but oh well.

News, I'm sure you don't need an example of, but editorials, an example is recent and present: My piece on business tactics and gaming. (http://www.clubskill.com/Game_Specials/2328/Memoirs:%20Are%20business%20tactics%20damaging%20g ames?)

The site will be very user friendly for staff, where the CMS (Content Management System) allows the user to place a new article into a category, that puts it down as one of the above. They can also then bind the article to a game. So I can write a review for LTTP, and bind it to the actual game's entry in the database, so if a user searches the site for LTTP or goes to the LTTP section in the alphabetical list of games, they will see my review amongst the content. This will be the case for all the different articles types. The site will have a polls and other extended content, but that's simple enough - staff will be able to edit it.

Adding content to the site will be like making a forum post. It'll be very easy. You will be able to browse the site via console - clicking PS2 displaying all the PS2 RPGs, clicking GBA doing the same for that system - like IGN and other sites. I think you should be all getting the idea by now.

The main problem with this idea is the sheer volume of content we have to provide. There's a lot of RPGs out there, and even providing a Preview, Review, and the news for even the major titles is going to be difficult, even if we have companies behind us sending us Review and Preview copies of the games. Not only this, but we're trying to work up a database of old reviews for classic titles.

So, we're looking for staff.
The following staff postitions are up for grabs:
News Reporter: Simple enough, these guys will be expected to add news as and when it breaks. Writing will be expected to be clear, consise, and above all else, very well presented, as News will not be edited by other staffers, and will go straight 'to press'.

Staff Writer: These guys are the main bulk of the staff. They don't have any responsibility for it, but they can add news like News Reporters. The bulk of their duties lies in writing. They will be allocated games to review, and as well as reviews they will chrun out previews and articles/editorials. I should note that staff at shows (E3, EGN in the UK etc) will come mostly from these two pools of people.

Editor: These guys have all the powers of the previous two, with the ability to edit and ammend other people's articles - thus them being editors. When Staff Writers submit Reviews, Previews, or Articles of any kind (Editorials, Interviews, whatever), the site will 'withhold' it from going out. An editor will have to look over the article, checking it follows all the rules and contains no errors. The editor will then approve the article, and it'll head on out to the site. Editors will also be expected to of course help out with news and content.

Administrative Staff: Well, you guessed these guys are like the editors who edit the editors. So to speak. They will be heads of department (Head of PS2, Head of Gamecube, Head of Zelda, Head of Final Fantasy), and they will be very few in number. If you are the head of a "network" site like UFF or some ULOZS (Legend of Zelda) site for example, you would be head of Zelda. These guys will be helping out talking to the videogamer companies too.

How to Apply
Want to be a staffer? Great. Postitions open for application are News Reporter, Staff Writer and Editor.

Send an email to webmaster@uffsite.net. Title the email "RPGSite Staff"

The email must read as follows:
Name:
Age
UFFSite Forums Username (if applicable)
Location (Country is most important)
Consoles Owned
Why you want to work on RPGSite
Position Desired
Previous Experience in Journalism

A brief example of your work would also be greatly appreciated. Any other fields you wish to add would work. Please bear in mind your Name, Age and Location are all important - on the site you would use full names, not usernames, and your age and location determines what industry events you would be able to attend.

Any questions can be posted here.

A final clarification: IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SENT ME A PM OR EMAIL, YOU MUST APPLY AGAIN.

I sent one in, but it was before I saw your edit, so it's not to webmaster@uffsite.net, hope that's ok.

Erm... So, Should I type up a small peice on something and send it in? I don't have anything, I've never worked on reviews and such, but I have a passion for writing stuff, but I'm not sure just telling you that would be good enough.

Yes. Feel free to write a short piece on any game you feel like. As long as it's writing, it's fine.

I will apply, the only question is, what if we don't have any past experience with journalism? I haven't, but would making a FAQ Guide count?

Anything - user reviews on sites, gamefaqs guides, school newpaper work, right up to work on other gaming sites. Note it down.
