Yep, I got a hacked PSP. ^_^

Enjoying emulators of all kinds and what not for a hand held system.

It's a fairly simple process to get CFW (Custom Firm Ware). Many sites on the net offer hands on guides and help-full resources.

Plus playing any PSone game I want on it is awsome.

Thoughts, comments?

Shame on you! I'm just the type that dislikes emulators, that's all, lol. I do have my PS and PS2 chipped but that's for import-reasons. I always prefer to play a game as it's originally to be played. Meaning, on the proper console with the proper game-case/disc. So even if it'd be interested to have an emulator on my PSP and for example play a PS FF game, I rather not. I rather play it on one of my main PS consoles.

Shifting this down to General Gaming...

Yes, I too have a hacked PSP. I've got FF7, 8 and 9 on there as well as the new PSP FF1/2 remakes.

The system itself doesn't have much going for it, but the ability to take my PS1 discs, rip them and play them on my PSP makes the system worthwhile for me.

*rasies hand* Yep, hacked PSP-er here, too.

The ONLY thing I play on my PSP these days is FF9, FF7, and Chocobo's Dungeon... with the occasional Monster Hunter. I'm laughing because while I actually do play my PSP now more than any of my other consoles, I only have like, 3 proper PSP games. Which I don't play all that often. :P

It was my buddy on that freekin' 8-hour flight from Hawaii to Japan. XD

Ahh, but what if you actually do have copies of the games and have actually played them? ;o

Dunno <3 Think it'd be cool to just have them on-the-go. It's probably like one of the only 2 reasons I'd want a PSP really. :P

I have a non-hacked PSP.

It's my little brothers, and I don't want to risk breaking it. :/

Ok tell me the pros and cons to a hacked psp... i have the newer one (2000?? the one that is silver and comes with the dextor game). I have thought about moding it but i don't want to wast the money i payed to get it just to play ff7 while i'm at work... If i do this to my psp does it still work normally (with the exception of it playing ps1 games)? I really just got my psp to play FF7CC and the new FF9 games coming out but i would like to take full advantage of the possibilities my psp has to offer.

My PSP it's 3.51...

How can I dowgrade it without Pandora?

Pandora is the most easiest method to mod a PSP without hard moding it. You can run a program while your PSP is in service mode and turn your battery into a Pandora. I did this for mine and I have a slime PSP with cfw 3.80 M33-5.

Ok so how is this done... I've been working with this all day.. i don't really understand how it works but I'll get it..
(you'll have to excuse my ignorance.. I'm a new psp owner..)

First off you say mod your psp... thats just to play ps1 games on it right??

next What the hell is Pandora and what does your battery have anything to do with that?

My version on my psp is 3.72 Wanna walk me through this or send me a link to help to my rescue??

I'v got down how to convert ps1 games into the Eboot but when i try to use it it tells me that the "copyright Protection information is invalid." i assume thats where the moding comes into play..

I read that you need an already hacked psp to use Pandora's Battery... Man, I need to play FVII portable!!! Please help this poor soul !

All a Pandora battery is is a battery that can put the system into service mode. Its used to downgrade a system to 1.5 firmware which you can then use to install a custom firmware. With custom firmware you can play PS1 iso's and PSP iso's plus have all the features of the current retail firmware. To get a pandora battery you need to either buy the Datel battery in the store or get someone that already has a hacked PSP to make you one.

Yeah, I'd like to know as well, it was the main reason I got a PSP Fat, so I could hack it...

I don't really know where you can buy one from but it looks like this http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/images/stories/tool.gif and is officially called the 'Datel Tool Battery". Once you have the battery you then need a few files made from a PSP with custom firmware to dump on your memory stick and then your good to go. Id recommend looking at the PSPupdates.com forums to find what your looking for.

You can actually turn any battery into a 'Pandora' battery, but it'll render it useless (brick it). But what you could do, is buy the extended life PSP battery and use your old one for Pandora.

Aw man, it's a really bad thing that DarkAlex got out of the internet.

So, no one here knows about when de 3.51 downgrade (no Pandora) it's going to came out?

I seriously doubt that Sony will release an official 'downgrade' for the PSP - they stopped CFW compatibility beyond 1.5 for a reason.

It's Pandora's or nothing, I'm afraid.

So, just wondering, after you got the PSP hacked, couldn't you just download the discs from another source or do you have to rip the discs personally to play it on the PSP?

If you do need to rip them personally that would put me in such a bad spot since an FF7 case would cost around $500. :(

you can download .ISO files and run them via emulation for FF7. www.dohgames.com provides them. As for PSP games you can download .CSO files which are dumps of the UMD by using a program on the PSP. CSO's can be put on the PSP and run through it with no emulation :D
