I suggest you create a post count specifically for spam. Although spam may seems worthless for some...other consider it an art form. And thus...should have a post count.:cookie:

As in, count the Asylum posts in a seperate count, or actual factual spam?
If the Asylum idea, good thinking, but I'm not sure it's very necessary really. As for the actual spam, you'll just get a warning instead of a post count. You'll know when you've been noticed. :P

The reason we have the asylum is to spam WITHOUT inflating our postcounts.
If that were the case, i'd have ONE BILLION POSTS.

The only places I have even seen consider pointless, non-constructive posts (the whole meaning of the word spam) as beneficial to the community and worthwhile of being validated with its own postcount were elitist, exclusive forums dumps, all of which eventually collapse under the weight of their own egos.
FFF / UFF / RPG-S likes to create a sense of community through mutual discussion and understanding. Spam is fun, but it's not the core of this community.
Validating spammy posts only serves to validate the efforts of the kind of cliques this place aims to avoid nurturing.
I.E. a sense of community is more important than how many one line posts a forum gets in half a year.
I say nay.

There will be two separate post counts. One for normal posts, and another for Spam posts. The rules for spamming in the sections will obviously stay. Let's say you post in the Gaming Network section, that will count towards your normal post count. But a post in the Asylum will go towards your spam count. I believe other forums have this...the forum of adventchildren.net being one of them. Just take a look there, and you'll see what I mean.

Read Michael's post for a basic overview of why alot of us would oppose it.

That is one way of looking at it. But that's what rules are for, we set them and enforce them. Spam can be fun...and it's not like it will be all over the forum...it will stay in the Asylum. The rules for posting in this forum don't have to change. I'm simply stating that giving a count to spam posts will increase activity in that area. The forum will not be taken over by spammers.

ACF is a forum that has a separate spam count, and does fine by it, but it isn't necessary to have everywhere.
In fact, the spam count was removed from places like Wonder Square because of abuse or something (I'm not sure exactly what, not being active in the main forums at that time).
This place seems fine without it.

Ah, kelz...you're here. Good to see you. This place is fine without it, I just feel it would be a fun addition. But, whatever.

*Edit: Bah, I didn't realize that the idea was dropped on the poster, but I wanted to make it a little more ideal:
So, you're saying that because people can see their posts in spam... it will make the activity increase? That's just stupid.
In a sense, we all look down on spam as worthless and pointless. It's good for a laugh or two, but when you open the Asylum, you'll just want to click back at all the stupid stuff people would put. The only thread that seemed more interesting is the "Ok, here we go" Thread, that's been going on forever, and even that can be turned into a discussion from now and then.
There's no point to it. Some members just post word for word in one post just to be funny... it wouldn't even count as a post.
To top that off, there will be that one little case of "Oh mai gah! I hav mor spam posts than u!" and then Spam will just fill the Asylum up, which brings be back to the point I made in the second paragraph.
Aside from that, we aren't other Websites. Just because they have spam count doesn't make it seem like one of the great ideas to go ahead and do.

Supporting this statement, it would also veer this site off of what it's supposed to be about. :cookie:

I've heard that before. :cookie:
I think what the staff are trying to say is that they don't *want* to increase the activity of spam, or give it more attention, but want to reduce it as much as possibly.
It may increase activity, but it's not the kind of activity this place wants.

There is one good reason why the staff and members here don't support rampant spamming...
When they go to open a thread about Mooses for example they expect to be intruiged by a vast multitude of moose-talk, the kind that interests them enough to add their own opinion on those wiley antlered beasties. They don't want to open their precious thread which so caught their imagination from the creative title - "Moose in a Corsette" - to find idiots babbling about how they pwnt another member in WOW and then boasting about the number of times they've interjected a serious topic about the largest member of the deer family and female clothing in reference to their spam count.
In any case, the cynics of this forum, which would be a lot in this case, would most likely view such a post count as negative. Like a moron wearing a skunk on their chest and calling it a medal.
I think it's a resounding no from the staff and members for this suggestion, but I'd like to thank you for your suggestion.
