Figured my first post would be about Final Fantasy IX, but it's not.
I'm playing through Final Fantasy X now (it's been a while for this one), and having passed Guadosalam and the Farplane recently, a part that happened made me think.
Now this isn't a major point in the story of the game, but I wouldn't it ruined for me had I not known.
The player doesn't know that Auron is dead. The first hint of this is when Seymour asks Auron "Why are you still here sir?" and "We Guado are quite keen of the scent of the farplane". Afterwards, you head to the Farplane and Auron won't go in (neither will Rikku). He says "I don't belong there". When you come out, Lord Jyskal tries to follow (to give you that sphere warning about Seymour) and Auron appears to go into a bit of pain with pyreflies about him.
Then, of course, at the end, Yuna goes to send, I can't remember what (aeons?), and Auron is around her so he starts getting sent, she sees this and stops, and he say "Don't stop".
There's also the backstory about Rin finding him and recovering him, and the flashback with Yunalesca, but those aren't really hints to it.
On my first playthough, I didn't figure this out until the end when it shown. Seeing these hints though on this playthrough, they seem more obvious, or perhaps I only say that becuase I already know this time. I still wonder why (or anyone I knew) never figured it out on the first playthrough.
Did anyone else figure it out, right then and there the first time, or was it not until the end that you found out?
