This... :( (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7726174.stm)

As you know, I work for this illustrious telecommunications company, and I woke up this morning, and this brilliant news was on the radio. It shocked me, to say the least.

I know that there were definite job losses going to happen at one of the sites (I know which one but I won't publish it in case it's confidential) because the lease on the building finishes at the end of next year, but this has come as a big surprise; even the managers didn't know. I called the people at my agency and they were none the wiser. However the Lincoln site has had new orders for recruitment and the downstairs desks are finally being converted from Directory Enquiries (after over two years!) so we are confident that my site won't be affected.

However I am so worried about losing my job, even though I do nothing but moan about it. However much I dislike it some days, it is the best job I have ever had, and believe it or not, it is the first job I have ever really felt comfortable in. As you probably know, I have been unemployed before, and I really don't want to go through that again... :(

It is a scary thing to feel that you could lose your job. It certainly shakes you up a bit, but I am sure everything will be fine. Even if the worst does happen I am sure, if your company cares for its employees a all, they will give you some assistance in finding a new branch to move to or something of that sorts. And the article says the cuts are going to be what mainly offshore workers? I think you will be fine tallulah. You have my vote of confidence on that one :)

If anything bad does come out of it you know we are always here for ya.

There are a lot of call centres in India; they mainly look after the broadband technical side of things. They are there basically because it's cheaper to employ them. Sad but true. :(
