So, the game is out, the reviews are in, blah blah. All's looking good - reviews are solid, but not as high as Halo 3 but whatever - this is basically an expansion.

I'm really loving this game. The story is short but seems very lovingly created and the new Multiplayer Firefight mode is fantastic. You also get a second disc of Halo 3 Multiplayer with all the old maps and 3 new ones too, so it's not bad value despite what some sites are saying.

Anyone getting this or playing this? It'd be great to do some UFF rounds of Firefight.

(well this is an old topic...sorta, but what the heck...) I should be getting it this week! As far as playing online goes though...I agree some UFF rounds of Firefight would be pretty awesome. I'd gladly join in...assuming my plans for getting high speed internet this week also work out. XD

I'm still working through the Campaign at the moment, due to the fact that someone else has always wanted to join in - meaning we've had to completely restart and make me rage. But yes. I put my foot down a few days ago and so me and Mr. Suggestive are working through it on Legendary.

Unlike Halo 3 where even on Legendary, the good ol' Chief could jump into a horde of enemies and beat them all senseless with a few mashes of the B button; ODST is certainly harder in my opinion - and that's a great thing. I daresay we're both having to think tactically for a change, rather than blasting something's face off with the beam rifle.

The Atmosphere is a lot better as well, especially the use of music and lighting. I think it's wonderful walking around moody New Mobasa hunting around for these bloody Engineers and Audio files.

And Firefight. Dear christ it's hard. So far the furthest I've reached is game 1, round 3, set 4. Always been caught out by a grenade. every time.

Do not expect it to be like Halo 3. If you do - you won't like it.
Do buy the game.

just bought it tonight, and I'm absolutely loving it. My brother and I played a few levels in campaign and then he went to bed. Then I've been playing Firefight ever since. And Suggestive is right, it's HARD! But it's freaking fun as well.

I'd seriously suggest buying this game just for the Firefight mode. To me, having the campaign to play as well is just an added bonus.

Oh...and speaking of Firefight...my copy also came with a download code to unlock Sgt. Johnson, and I didn't even pre-order it like you were supposed to to get it! Now I just gotta get my internet to run well enough that I can use it. Anyone know how big a file it is? Cuz if it's too big I'll have to wait until I have a highspeed connection, otherwise I can just download it here at home.

Got my first 200k achievement in Firefight last night. Good stuff.

I was pretty close to it today. I got up to 130,000 before I got too overwhelmed. But I'm definitely surviving a lot longer than I thought I would.

EDIT: And, after 2 hours of system update downloads onto my 360, I managed to download Sarge onto my game. It was only 108kb! I would've had it much faster if XBL didn't INSIST that I update my console...it's not like they changed anything significant...

Got my first 200k achievement in Firefight last night. Good stuff.

Git. How did you manage that?

Then again, for the most part me and Mr. Suggestive have been pairing up with folks who can't seem to realise that running in guns blazing does not work.

Words can not describe the facepalm. Seriously it's making me proper rage.

On a lighter note though; managed to find all the Audio Files early last night. I quite enjoyed the little side story. Really nicely done.

Just 2 of us. It was great fun really, it just sort of happened, the achievement popped about 2 hours in. I have to get the rest of the audio logs - I've 14 at the moment.

Beat the campaign last night :D Only on Normal though. Playing through Heroic at the moment.

You know? I actually play better on Firefight when I'm playing solo. Or maybe it's just because my brother hasn't exactly realized that he needs to help out instead of driving the stupid Brute Chopper all the way around the map looking for places to hide. XD

Yeah, it takes quite a while. Ah well, the game is fun and worth it.

True. I'm not entirely sure if I can concentrate for a solid two hours though.

Is it really worth it is the question I usually ask myself

I got up to 185,000 yesterday. I was quite mad when I got killed that last time. I'd been going strong for about an hour and 45 minutes then it all seemed to crumble. Oh well. I just need to get my brother to actually help me, that might make it easier. He's actually really good when he tries to be.

I really want to go for the "Endure" achievement soon, purely for the glory.

Holy shit - just got my first 200k with Mr. Suggestive on Alpha site. You were right about the two hour mark. I really am not looking forward to doing the same thing for the others :|

But I am more than willing to chip into your endure quest if you're looking for spare people.

gah! Lucky! My brother and I still have yet to break 100,000 together, though we've gotten really close.

We found this really sweet strategy for Alpha Site though. You know the elevator that's open for you to go into? Take and push one of the big green boxes into the doorway so it blocks it off and just sit in there. You can actually melee enemies through the glass if they're close enough, and it's pretty easy to jump up and get a couple headshots on grunts and jackals too, all the while safe from being shot. It works pretty well, we just have yet to score high enough. The only thing it doesn't work so with, of course, is the hammer chieftains, cuz of course they'll just come and knock the box away with their hammers...

Two of my mates hit 350k last night on heroic, impressive because there was only two of 'em.

I'm moving in with a friend who has a 360 and have made an account and have been having a good time with this one.

Whilst back home my cousin and I beat the shit out of Halo 3 to the point when we could handle the game on legendary in less then 10 hours seeing how Halo 3 was the only game we had to play progress was made. Though, not to say portions of the game weren't challenging and just plain annoying at times. We probably would've got better time then that but, I had to drive home.

Now that I'm playing this expansion my skills are returning but its so odd. So apparently being human makes your brain fall from your ass and you can't double wield and yet you can tactically move about the city collecting clues and whatnot. So weird. I am enjoying moving about the city though and I'm really wondering what the hell those flying things enemies are.

However, whatever gripes I have about the game don't take away from it at all especially because it has such a bad ass beginning. Dropping into New Mombasa was probably one of the coolest "Space Marine" type of plot devices I've ever seen done in a video game. If only there were more.
