I sense another bandwagon looming in the darkness..
Welcome to Round Eight of Survivor: Battle of the Decade!

Begins: 11pm, 23rd February 2010
Ends: 11pm, 25th February 2010
I do try to avoid doing anything twice in a row, so at first I wasn’t sure about using another bandwagon quote to open the Round but to be honest…
Eviction Votes
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth – 5
Star Ocean: Til the End of Time – 4
Golden Sun - 2

Star Ocean: Til the End of Time – 5
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth - 3
Golden Sun -2
…Mig was spot on – there is no denying that we just witnessed another bandwagon. It was not a particularly ferocious one – it just went gently about its business, started by Ridley and picking up the likes of our quote giver and Sioux along the way, the latter confessing that he was going to make his choice via “coin toss and call it a day.”
Aether questioned the validity of their cause, by asking “You really want to evict that game? It was so good!” but it was another failed stand, because the sudden scream of “DO NOT DO THIS TO ME” from Dedrus meant that the likes of AP were too intimated to come to his aid until a sudden rush much too late in the game to make a difference. As such, we are saying goodbye to…
Odin Sphere
Tales of Symphonia
Fallout 3
Persona 4
World of Warcraft
Tales of Vesperia
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
Which means we again finds ourselves needing tot ake a look at
The Predictions
“Which of the two remakes (Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and Chrono Trigger DS) will be evicted first?”
And this round it is Mig, Dedrus, Lord DB, BZero, Aether, Roger, and Not Miko ~deep breath~ who predicted it correctly, which means the table now looks like this…
Aether - 3
BZero – 2
Dedrus - 1
Lord DB - 2
Mig - 4
Not Miko - 3
Roger - 4
Sioux – 2
And Not Miko is still not willing to give up the chase, despite still never having set foot in Survivor itself. Come on now, guys – show some attitude. While you’re searching for that internal fire, let us take a look at the last Question – “If you were creating an RPG, what type of RPG would it be?”
The two most popular answers were traditional RPGs and action RPGs. Magus wants to a “Classic turn-based RPG for this guy” because “Action-RPGs don't really do it for me, because strategy almost always gets thrown out the window (unfortunately)”, while BZero thought the name of his RPG (Secret Tales of Dragon Fantasy: Lost Breath) “pretty much doomed it to become the most JRPG of all JRPGs that have ever JRPG'd”.
Lord DB was mixed, because “As I'm creating one right now, its your traditional turn-based RPG” but has ambitions to “make a nice fluid action RPG, as the battle systems for those are usually very fun.”
And then you have Sam, who dreams of developing “Some sort of action RPG about Cowboys and Indians fighting over a planet natively inhabited by dragons....where each side has futuristic phaser cannons yet the most skiled fighters decide to use light swords”, and Roger, who said “Action RPG, involving Dante and Raiden - because it doesn't get much more badass than a cyborg ninja and a handsome half-demon devil hunter” – he must have forgot about Samuel L. Jackson.
Despite that oversight, I must still introduce the new
Question of the Round
After dominating the genre for years, Japanese RPGs have fallen behind Western RPGs, but what would you say was the turning point for the shift in influence?
There is no Miscellaneous Business that I am aware of, so here is your list;
Chrono Trigger DS
Dragon Age: Origins
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy XII
Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Kingdom Hearts 2
Knights of the Old Republic
Lost Odyssey
Mass Effect
Star Ocean: Til the End of Time
And as was written in the ancient scrolls of years gone by, “if at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried!”
