Begins: 11pm, 28th February 2010
Ends: 11pm, 2nd March 2010

In my last write-up I mentioned that we had entered the midway Survivor lull that veteran players will recognise from years passed, but now we have come out the other side…

…and as you can see, the genuine results suggest the game is much less clear cut than it was just one Round ago, with votes landing all over the place. One of the many campaigns was that against Dragon Age: Origins, which was supported by Roger because he thought "The competition is too fierce" for it to last any longer. Dedrus was, frankly, aghast when he saw this, demanding to know "Are you kidding me?" but in a slightly larger and more hysterical font. Thankfully, Aether was there to remind him that "Survivor is serious business" - no joking allowed.

Only joking. Elsewhere, BZero was still gunning for Golden Sun: The Lost Age, though his continued vow of silence may have alienated his fellow players as he was the only one to vote as such. In fact, the very next person to post - which was DreamLines making his long awaited return to the game - voted the exact opposite to him, for both Eviction and Immunity.

When all was said and done, however, it was the campaign supported by Sioux that once again came out on top. After previously acting as the public face of the Lazy Boy Voting Inc. - and getting what he wanted each time - he figured that this time "why not actually make an effort here? - and still got what he wanted. Man, he's good, and because he is so good we must say goodbye to...

Odin Sphere
Tales of Symphonia
Fallout 3
Persona 4
World of Warcraft
Tales of Vesperia
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
Star Ocean: Til the End of Time
Eternal Sonata

With that decided, why not take a look at our last Question – “Each game in this contest is set in its own unique world, but which would you most like to live in?”

Magus was torn because “Ivalice is an incredibly beautiful place” but in he could not deny that he is “a Weyward man at heart, in spite of the continent’s slow demise over the course of the games”. Lord DB partly agreed and “would say Ivalice” but only because “Spira is not an option”. Mig was another that thinks "living in Ivalice would be pretty awesome" but he admitted that there was a certain appeal to Sam's vision of "being an all-powerful Jedi in the world of Knights of the Old Republic".

And me? Well, there was something magical about the simple enthusiasm Ridley held for "Super Mario World!" I'll see you there.

But, before we book our holidays, we should ponder the new

Question of the Round

We're halfway through, so what has been the biggest surprise so far?

There is one item of

Miscellaneous Business

- Actually, wait, no. Still none.

With all that said, here is your list;

Chrono Trigger DS
Dragon Age: Origins
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy XII
Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Kingdom Hearts 2
Knights of the Old Republic
Lost Odyssey
Mass Effect

And as was written in the ancient scrolls of years gone by, "junk is something you’ve kept for years and throw away three weeks before you need it!"

QotR: The fact that Eternal Sonata lost. Those that voted against it, you're off my Christmas card list.

QotR: There have been a few surprises, one has been my neglect of the competition up until this stage, another has been the relatively lengthy survival of Eternal Sonata, given how many had prophesied its demise in the first round.

Finally, I'm surprised that no-one yet has tried to pull off a sneaky back-door Final Fantasy Bandwagon, so here's trying:

Qotr: Biggest surprise is the fact that so many have apart from a vote here or there been completely ignored by the populace of this game.

Eviction: Golden sun: The Lost Age

QotR: Biggest suprise? Hm.. would I be thrown in the stocks if I said the sudden evasion of bandwaggoning?
Otherwise, it'll be that Eternal Sonata lasted so long.. and that WoW took a severe beating =P

QotR: My biggest suprise so far was discovering how many people underestimate the awesomeness of Eternal Sonata, it is my love child.

Oh, I'm sure Eternal Sonata is a good RPG from what I read and watch about it but, I haven't played it and this competition is about games that set the bar and changed the way the RPG game is played after all and there are plenty left who did that simply better it looks like after I compare ratings and critical responses to the games.

All I saw was a pretty and perfectly pitched RPG standing in the way. Though, not that it was all me doing the good work, this was a team effort. ^_^

Eviction: Golden Sun: The Lost Age Ahh, Peer Pressure. We meet again. Now scoot along Golden Sun.
Immunity: Final Fantasy XII No, no, not yet. Ivalice will not go just yet.

QotR: The biggest surprise for me being how much people are rooting for all these off beat over shadowed RPGs. I mean, yeah, that might be the reason in the first place they tried defending them and I'm sure they are fantastic games but with stuff like KOTOR, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, WoW, Fall Out, and Mass Effect up there I don't understand the rooting for the small ones in the beginning.

These smaller and offbeat titles didn't change the RPG genre by any means, maybe enriched it in their diversity but, the other ones literally changed the way the genre brought the game to you in history making ways. I guess the fandom is really running deep though especially for the odd Tales series. I suppose that's why each off beat one eventually fell out..well, that and probably because of my second biggest surprise for this Survivor.

The amount of mistakes we're making ven though some of us have been through two or more of these Survivors already. There have been some big blunders lately-one even by me...this has been like the three stooges of the Survivors so far voting wise. It even cost the life of Fallout 3 which by any definition has the right to stand next to games like KOTOR, WoW, and Mass Effect in terms of genre changing game creation( a tragedy in ways considering I was expecting this one to last). But yes, that round was a farce and half though the bigger Farce being that WoW made it so long considering this crowd of predominantly anti-WoW folks.

I mean, I was expecting it to go maybe a couple rounds but, Fallout 3 fell before it. Amazing.

All of the above is one of the big reasons I'm playing this one sloppy. Its all a mess and I think it may get messier...well, and because Bandwagons are easy to jump onto as is flipping coins. Being Lazy has gotten results so far so I'll go with it. :D

There's way too many bad games on this list to have this one go out so quickly.

Immunity: Final Fantasy XII

Biggest surprise so far? The accuracy of my predictions :P And the fact that Fallout 3 was evicted so early, though so was WoW and several other games which maybe should have stayed in.

Oh, and the fact that DL could even conceive of such a twisted idea as a sneaky backdoor anti-FF Bandwagon! :P Happy returns to the forums, by the way.

My biggest surprise was the amount of JRPGs that made the final cut. 7 Have been voted out and 7 still remain!

Eviction: Dragon Age: Origins

Immunity: Golden Sun: The Lost Age - could this be the survivor of this Survivor?

QoTR: The fact that Tales of Symphonia left the game so early. I thought it would last a bit longer seeing as there are several people here who liked it. Also the lack of WRPGs on the current list... there are only two. o_O
