Hollenthon - Son of Perdition
I always used to make fun of the guttural yelling kind of cookie monster type of singing style but, that's usually when there is grinding powerful guitar(s) and someone trying to kill a set of drums in the background and everyone is trying to be darker then Shadow the Hedgehog or something. *cough*Lambofgod*cough*
However, this stuff is pretty good and I'm getting exciting at the almost melodic and symphonic style metal bits and singing behind all the hardcore throaty singing. Good stuff. Though, it definitely seems to be an acquired taste so I'll try some at work today and orient myself to the music following some hardcore vocals.
Edit:
I also really like this music video for this song.

Ray, Fear Factory's drummer, uses triggers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigger_pad), allowing it to sound like he's playing at a remarkable speed. He's fast, like Dino is on guitar, but there's not much technique. Still, that's what the band's sound is about - raw, unleashed power. Demanufacture gives you that in leaps and bounds. They pulled out of Bloodstock, along with Wintersun, and it's ruined my festival.
Oh yeah, never see Blind Guardian play their homeland of Germany. Hansi does nothing but chatter in the native tongue, and anyone not fluent in German is buggered. Hopefully seeing them play British soil for the first time in about three years will rectify that. Not to rub it in, lad.

August Burns Red - "Marianas Trench"
Their new album, "Constellations", is definitely everything I expected it to be--epic. It's a great follow-up to "Messengers," which itself was what I believe to be a genre-defining album. Everything about this band is just great. And the drums are just killer :P

Me and my friend walked past just as Zakky and Syn were soloing during Beast and the Harlott.. I'm not too keen on A7X, but when they stand next to each other soloing in harmony, I'll admit it looks god damn awesome. They played quite well too, in all fairness. But we did the same thing and missed most of their set to get as good a spot as possible for Metallica.

And I'm still waiting to get tickets to see Metallica at the Van Andel (aka home of the Griffins--farm team for the Detroit Red Wings). They sold out within two hours of sale a couple months ago...but I was on a resale site recently (stub-hub I think) and they had quite a few for that show. So I listened to DevilDriver last night, got through two albums and I gotta say they're quite nice.
I was dissapointed though, the song 'I could care less' from the album DevilDriver is of such a higher calibur than their other songs on the album.
I imagine it was some of their earlier work, as the other album 'The Last Kind Words' has a much cleaner sound and generally higher quality songs.
I recommend you check 'em out if you're a metal fan.
