View Full Version : Difficulty of X-2

Have to ask: Am I the only one who practically beat x-2 with my eyes closed with a time of around 24 hours and a completion of like 85 then came back around the seond time and cleaned up the rest of the unbearably easy game in less than the first time... Ugh I thought it was waaaaay to easy. I mean all the recent FF's have been easy, but I mean come on. I didnt have to use any of the ultimate dresspheres. Nor did I have to even change dressphere in battle once. I couldn't believe how easy that made the game. I almost cried it was so pathetic. I had to make a run through 4 to remind myself what FF should be like.
SO yeah anyone else have a problem with the difficulty level of it?

Well yes, it was a very easy game, the first time I beat it I used the original Dress Spheres all the way through, but maybe try beating Trema and Angra without Cat Nip, it can be a difficult game if you want it to be.

I think they are trying to reach a wider audience, with the more promoting and the various sequences that reminds one of a certain movie that will remain nameless. With the success of Charlie's Angels and the idea that girls should be in power(plus certain guys gock over game girls), there doesn't need to be that great a plot, nor that difficult a game.
I felt a little used after purchasing this game. They just threw it together when it really didn't need to be created. Yes, it was a very easy game that I wish I never played.

They are ALL easy after you've beaten 1 or 4. Trust me. I haven't had a single challenge since going through FF5 for the first time trying to rush through at low levels.
They purposefully make the storyline part of the game easy though. It, as others have said, opens the game to a broader audience, and helps newbies who barely know how to use a potion, let alone go through the trials and errors of something like calibrating the lightning towers.
The games challenge comes from side quests like the Via Infinito, or taking the time to do all of the secret dungeons, or trying to get ALL of the equipment, or mastering all of the dress spheres. It takes time and patience. Also, set up your own challenges. Try beating the Via Infinito with only your original dress spheres, or without the aid of items, or without the aid of accessories. Makes it much tougher.

Yeah... good point. But this one was ridiculously easy. At least the ones before it had challenging side-quests that create a more difficult game, right?

I hated this game. I completed it aswell.
This is why sequels should never be made. X-2 ruined X.

Yes, it's easy, but so are most other Final Fantasy games. You should get used to it.
I rented X-2 a few weekends ago and almost beat it in that weekend. I was just up to the final boss place when I had to return it. I flew through the game for the most part and didn't bother getting every single sidequest or whatever finished as I went through. Didn't really need to either. When I left off, I think I had 35 hours with 60% or so.

I beat it. And I thought it was easy but it was the first rpg that I beat so.. It would have been better if the just had the good ending at the end of X. THen the wouldn't have had to waste so many hours. But I did like the songs.

I beat it the first day I got it! Never played it since!

It was a very easy game, but I think half the reason was that the levelling up was too easy. I didn't make a specific attempt to level up at any point of the game, but by the time I'd finished it (99% complete) all my characters were in the 90s! Definitely something wrong there.
Even though the game as a whole was easy, the individual superbosses were quite tough, with Angra Maohyu being the toughest for me. It took me an hour to beat him, which is longer than its taken me to beat any other superboss.

Too easy. I haven't bought it, I just borrowed it of a mate and beat it 100% in 5 nights, at Lv.99

maybe the game is easy. but when you say you've completed it have you then completed the 100% or just defeated the final boss. by the way there are also the game+ option after you beat the game first time. and remember that the main things of final fantasy is not the difficulty but the story, the character depht and the amazing movie sequences. :)

It is easy, but its alot of fun-to me. Im playing it for my first time and going for the 100% Completion. I just finished Via Infinito..That wasnt easy. It was really hard, esp if you dont use the Gunner + Catnip trick. I had to use it on Chac and Paragon though.

It's hardly a game more of a walk in the park.
I did it in 16 hours and that was with 84% completion!

Erm, can someone please explain to me, what is the Gunner+Catnip trick? I don't think I have an item called Catnip.
Just for the record, I think Via Infinito is HARD. That elder drake is still able to massacre me and I'm about Lv 90! But the Aeons were depressingly easy. The forst time I thought Dark Bahamut, and he was counting down to Mega Flare, I was CONVINCED that when the time was up I was a gonner. But it did even less damage that Impulse! I mean, come on! There are regular enemies more powerful than that!

Catnip is an item which allows a wounded character (yellow HP) to inflict damage of 9999 HP, regardless his own strenght and the enemies' defences. You get this item in VIA INFERNO on the 40th floor after beating the second boss.
Indeed, FFX-2 is really easy and hasn't got this worth to be played multiple times. I quit playing it after beating it thrice. >_> FF8 and FF10 are much better in this matter.

Cheers, I've got it now. Using Catnip you can take on anything, really. I'm now on Cloister 63!
Maybe it's not as hard as I thought it'd be...

James Arnold Taylor already did a great job ruining X. There wasn't really much left for X-2 to ruin. :yuck:
Anyway, I agree with the topic creator. The game is way too easy. You might say that Trema, for example, was hard, and he was, but considering him being the hardest boss in the game, he wasn't very hard compared to the hardest bosses in the previous FF-games, like Emerald or Penance.

I suppose. I always presumed that I got through FFVIII/X/X-2 easier because I had experience playing FFIX and VII, but just yesterday playing against Trema it reminded me how DIFFICULT I found some of those old battles. Ark, for example. And he wasn't the hardest boss in the game, now was he?
