Phoenix May 31, 2011 11:40 PM

Pulse is excellent. Anyone here seeing Waters do The Wall in Europe?

Mig Jun 1, 2011 12:57 AM

Really, really would love to, but the ticket prices were just silly for the show in London (think it was at Wembley?) think it was something like £80, plus all the daylight robbery fees and whatever.

If it was Gilmour on the other hand, I would probably have sold my family to see it. <_<

Phoenix Jun 1, 2011 01:34 AM

Ah, I paid $75+fees to see it in US Airways center (a basketball arena), and it was worth every penny. Gilmour is an amazing guitarist, and Snowy White can never replace him, but Water's real skill is in the visual and storytelling aspects of the album. For an album like The Wall, I feel like that's almost a larger part of the experience than the guitar playing.

According to the wiki, Gilmour and Mason played with Waters at the O2 arena during at least one of the London shows.

Wingly Jun 1, 2011 04:26 AM

I wanted to go. But it was rather expensive. So I didn't. I might buy the dvd, though.

Phoenix Jun 1, 2011 04:36 AM

Yeah I'll probably end up buying that too.

Aether Jun 1, 2011 10:25 AM

I'll just buy you all!

*is too lazy to go back a page and actually figure out what the hell you two are talkign about*

Mig Jun 1, 2011 11:07 AM

Roger Water's 'The Wall' tour. :P

Ah, I'm so gutted about missing it but the tickets were just silly expensive. It'll probably be Waters' last tour, but I still hold out hope for something fronted by Gilmour. The DVD is a must, and yeah I agree with that top post, P - The Wall in all its splendour was definitely his baby, I just prefer David Gilmour overall as a musician; the man is just bloody incredible.

Speaking of expensive tickets, only nine days until Download. :D

Dedrus Jun 1, 2011 02:01 PM

I just love it when one of my pass criteria on this IT-Programming unit is to 'describe the application and limits of different programming paradigms' and the recommended resource has nothing at all written about it :l

Meh. Back to gaming, I guess.

Phoenix Jun 1, 2011 04:00 PM

This is the part where you must learn the time-honored skill of bullshitting.

Sioux Jun 1, 2011 04:41 PM

Agreed.

Even if the source of information given to you has nothing to do with your assignment there are always avenues to complete the assignment thanks to Bullshit writing. It is an art form that even individuals within the higher echelons of learning all over the world say is valid (at times).

Though, I believe the technical term for it is Bull Writing. The Shit is implied. If you have ever read one of your previous BS writing papers that did anywhere near a good job or have read someone else's you spot it easily.

I once remember back in AP English in Highschool reading an essay about an English professor that made it an art form in his younger days while attending University.

He was so good in one of his last years he not only sat in on a class that he wasn't in and knew nothing about, out of symapthy for a friend whom was about to fail said course, but, he pulled off one of the highest graded papers ever written in the class and he went in blind.

I think it was a course on Sociology and he ripped the subject apart simply by writing like he knew what he was talking about the entire time, provided sources he pulled out of memory by simply being well read, and used well timed buzz words that made his arguments unquestionable.

Dedrus Jun 1, 2011 06:44 PM

Bullshitting is really my only option, considering the distinct lack of genuine and reliable information on the internet regarding the criteria... so wish me luck :P

Wingly Jun 1, 2011 09:22 PM

D has never not bullshitted, so he's gonna be okay.

Tallulah Jun 1, 2011 09:23 PM

*looks at thumb* Is that a wart, or a burn from the fries? o_O

Also, I hope my cousin is okay... :(

Wingly Jun 1, 2011 11:16 PM

If it's a wart you might be a witch. Go with the fries burn, before you get burnt.

Also. I don't know anything about this cousin of yours, but say hello from the creepy internet guy and hope things go well.

Also. Mig just spoiled FF7 for me. God damn him.

Also also.

Is anyone still having trouble loading the new version of RPG Site? Please let us know - trying to get stuff ironed out before I fly to E3.

www.rpgsite.net!

Wingly Jun 1, 2011 11:25 PM

I'll give it a shot before bed (I'm sick and tired of rebooting the computer because of crashes) and report first thing in the morning.

I think it was Aether who suggested Microsoft Silverlight could be the baddie. I've got that installed (it's probably useful? Not really sure what it does). So would it be possible to check that out?

Lord DB Jun 1, 2011 11:56 PM

How much memory is the current RPGSite supposed to take up? I've noticed that, in Firefox at least, it seems to use up about 50-60MB of memory, as I observed Firefox go from roughly 125MB to 185MB in Task Manager. Maybe its related to the performance issues?

Wingly Jun 2, 2011 01:09 AM

What I'm really wondering is why most beards are ginger-ish.

WHY!?

Phoenix Jun 2, 2011 05:51 AM

Silverlight is Microsoft's flash alternative. Primarily it's used on MS sites, and Netflix in the states. I've got it installed, and no issues on the site.

Enjoy E3. Always wanted to go when I was a teen and actually had time to play a lot of games. I don't envy your flight though.

www.rpgsite.net!

I thought clearing my cache like Mike suggested had stopped it, but I just tried now and it froze on me again. It stops everything for 10-30 seconds but it seems to not happen every time. Using the newest Chrome.

It's not the only site that does it to me - www.xsparkage.com does it too, and a few others that aren't coming to mind right now.

I did? Well fancy that!

I use rpgsite on Firefox 4 and I've never ahd an issue. Mind you, Google Chrome is a pretty dodgy browser if something goes wrong with it on your PC - due to cloud design, if you reinstall it on the same PC, you'll have the same issues.

Wingly Jun 2, 2011 08:48 AM

Good morning. Didn't work. Crashed my computer again.

I love how my hair affects my ethnicity.
Apparently I look Russian if my hair is really short; Greek if it's curly-short; and Turkish with long, straight hair and this getting-there middle-eastern style facial hair... :cookie:

Good point. My great-uncle Arnold (who I never met but used to send me Scottish £20 notes for my birthday) had dark brown hair but a ginger beard! Also my History teacher had ginger sideburns, which was a source of much amusement.

Also, the rpgsite works fine for me. No issues, and that is saying something when my crappy computer is involved. (I am running on Firefox)

Aether Jun 2, 2011 01:39 PM

Well if it makes you all feel better my beard I blonde at the top and by the time it gets to the bottom it's red :D

Phoenix Jun 2, 2011 01:59 PM

I have never let my beard grow for more than say, two or three days, but if I ever do I will let you know. In general though, my beard appears darker than my natural hair color, which is blonde.

Mig Jun 2, 2011 02:09 PM

Thanks to the messed up blend of Spanish and Danish blood, my facial hair is jet black but eyebrows and hair are more of a light brown.. it is a bit odd, though thankfully not ginger.

For some reason (other than naturally red-headed people) blonde people almost always have ginger beards. One of those mysteries of the universe. <_<

Tallulah Jun 2, 2011 02:46 PM

My hair is usually dark brown, practically black, but it goes a dark reddish-brown in the sun.

Luckilly I don't have to worry about the beard thing! :D

Sorry guys. :( Could you PM me and Mike everything - Browser version, OS Version, OS Update level, Processor Speed etc? If you have any other browsers available, can you check for us if this is a browser specific issue or a wider one? Sorry to make you our guinea pigs.

Lord DB Jun 2, 2011 03:26 PM

It actually loads fine in all three browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome) for me, and I also have Windows 7 running on a fairly fast computer (3.2GHz quad-core, 4GB DDR3, Radeon HD 4770). I don't think its the browser that's the problem, it could just might be something memory-related, or even graphics-related.

Phoenix Jun 2, 2011 05:32 PM

http://pixelatedgeek.com/2011/06/duk...liens-ta-nsfw/

Dear lord. This game.

Also checked the site out in Safari (on windows). No issues there.

Tallulah Jun 2, 2011 08:58 PM

Well, Britain's Got Talent is a complete travesty.

GRRAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH! :angry::angry::angry:

Also, I'm a bit worried about the e.coli outbreak. However, it's a great excuse not to eat salad! :)

Sioux Jun 2, 2011 09:15 PM

I thought all versions of that show were a complete travesty. God, I hate television today. The main issue I have though is that if ever there is a show I enjoy the television networks kill it before either the first season is done or the show even has enough episodes to really come into it's own. :/

Aether Jun 2, 2011 09:49 PM

This tin tin movie is sounding more and more awesome. Produced by both Steven Speilberg and Peter Jackson, and I think written and directed by Steven Moffat of Doctor Who fame. Tin tin being voiced by that kid from Billy Elliot.

With all those people, lease don't let me down guys.

Frei Jun 2, 2011 10:55 PM

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thompson and Thomson.

And Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock.

Daniel Craig as Red Rackham.

Written by Joe Cornish, Edgar Wright and Stephen Moffat, though Moff had to drop out fairly early on.

Basically, HELL YEAH it's going to be awesome.

Phoenix Jun 3, 2011 07:21 AM

Why is it that bicycle tools are so expensive?

Aether Jun 3, 2011 07:48 AM

Antiques always are ^_^

Phoenix Jun 3, 2011 07:49 AM

Psh. Whatever, my 80's road bike will be awesome. You'll see. You'll all see!

Aether Jun 3, 2011 08:46 AM

Well I won't unless you attach your patented Geoff rockets to it and ride it across the Pacific Ocean.

Tallulah Jun 3, 2011 08:50 AM

Rocket-powered road bike? That would be awesome!

EDIT: I also realised what an inappropriate name 'Jefferson Hack' is for a journalist... -_-
