Huh. I had just enough patience for the Chocobo raising at least. I bred and raised all the way to a Gold Chocobo within a days time thanks to some luck on finding two Greats early and a Wonderful when I needed it for the final mating.
The racing actually went over insanely well thanks to the fact I had trained so many battles in that Junon Hallway that I had around 3 Million Gil by the time I got access to the Chocobo sage so I bought all the Sylkis and Regean greens I needed. 30 sylkis per Chocobo and they all race to S class almost too easy. I was just laying there half the time with my head on a pillow holding down the R and L triggers to maintain stamina and holding down square and then circle if and when I needed to...stupid Teioh. Anyways, I agree on the Materia part. I actually almost gave up and then simply used the elixir glitch in the Glacier place so I could feed those pots to get the last couple stars on the last handful of Materia I had. I regret nothing. The Materia system is too longwinded for its good. Though, fighting the American monsters is stupid easy after you look at your combinations with your ultimate weapons. I practically used the same strategy for both. It isn't the flashiest or the most inventive but I wanted them dead and dead they are. Emerald: HP-MP switch, KoTR, W-Summon, Final Attack-Phoenix, Mime on all three characters as well as Counter Attacks on all three characters. All of it mastered, of course. I didn't even put on the Underwater Materia. Ruby: W-Summon, KoTR, Hades. Final Attack - Phoenix. Final Attack - Life 2 on someone else. Mime on all three characters. Ridiculous. |

You probably used the W-item glitch :) |

I was seriously thinking about the W-Item glitch down the road but I didn't want to go that far when I could just use a bug in the game. Technically I suppose it is cheating what I did but I don't care. I'm never playing the game again anyways. |
See, I used to love the whole "lets do every single thing possible and completely max out everything" approach to Final Fantasy, but these days (having done that for pretty much every game), I'm finding it much more fun to make up challenges for myself to actualy make the game more difficult. Junctioning, as you say, is a wonderful system, but too easy. Same with materia but with added time. Recently I've done stuff like fixed, randomly selected GFs and magic for each character in VIII, fixed, randomly selected materia for each character in VII, and fixed, randomly selected equipment for each character in IX. If you also randomly select characters for each boss battle it makes for some fantastically unique and challenging gameplay. I'm all set for trying FFX next, with fixed characters to use in each area. Should be fun given that enemies are "matched" to particular characters in the early stages.
So plenty of reason to play them again Sioux ^_^ |

e: ah no never mind. The Elixir's in the Glacier, not the Cliff. |
S'alright.
To be completely honest, when it was just down to the Knights of the Round staring me in the face I did partake of a couple W-Item glitches for my elixirs. I seriously did not want to go back to the Glacier. But, its all water under the bridge now. Beatrix, madame, I'm up on what you're laying down so to speak. However, I have done one of the challenges for FF VII before and it was such a pain in the ass to the point I couldn't even appreciate the beauty of the challenge. Stupid Items only challenge. I remember B-Zero asked if anyone on the site wanted to play along with him and his shenanigans back then so I tried it out and I got stuck in the Desert Prison not being able to farm enough Cactuar thorns or whatever so I quit. Come to think of it I tried doing the Excalibur challenge as well and that didn't work for crap. The 12 screw PS2 I had wouldn't skip FMVs when I ejected the disc so I was stuck there too. I wonder if the PSN version of IX lets you skip them...I really want to get the Excalibur someday. :/ Dammit, Bee, now I am thinking about this stuff again. |
Sean, you think too much. :P

Haha I was kidding dude
|
I'm not. I seriously do think way too much about everything. I really don't know how to stop. Sometimes I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing. So, then I think about it.
Edit: Though, while we're on the subject of Final Fantasy is there really any reason for me to ever play II? I got a hour and a half in and I stopped. I liked the animation for the opening scenes for the PS remake but is it worth it at all? Is there some kind of interesting plot? A cool character? Anything? |
My thoughts on II are rather bleak. I wrote my review for it in early 2008 and the nonchalance hasn't changed. I only finished it once and it was a serious chore that I would not want to do again. Unless I was forced at gunpoint or something, I suppose. That might make me... though even then I'm not certain if it would be enough to make me say "Wild Rose" again.
Though, Firion was pretty good in Dissidia... |
Ugh, II. I played the fan-translated NES/FamiCom rom way back, before the game was released in the west. It is by far the worst FF, though I assume the newer re-releases are better than the original. I guess the only reason to really play it, is "for completeness' sake".
|
...Huh.
Well, I might as well try it...I did like the FMVs. Though, following my art skill training now it might just look like overly smooth late Squaresoft modeling garbage with compression artifacting all over it. *sigh* Well, at least I know FF I remake was solid enough. |
^ Welcome, and thanks for your comment in the other thread. :)
Sitting in Starbucks (why do they ask your name before they give you the coffee?!) trying to think of what to buy my friend from work for his birthday. He helped me out a bunch this past week so I want to get him something. |
I've finally got my internet back at home! After not having it for nearly 18 months! So I'll be on here again :)
|
I was wondering why you suddenly disappeared completely. Welcome back, Dee.
On the FF VIII front, I am now back in Timber. I have Diablos and most of his abilities done. I have double the amount of items and spells thanks to abusing Card Mod and the various refining abilities after playing cards all day with Zell's Mom and that dude in the cafeteria you get the Quistis card from. I have a ton of the good late game spells for Squall and mid to late level spells for everyone else so far. So, Junction abuse is within reach. Now all I need is to level up some more and start getting more GFs. I need Mug so bad. :/ |
really appreciate YOU — thanks a lot!
|
The bots are so nice this time of year. :)
|
It's the spirit of the holidays!
Er, wait... |
Well, we just had Easter... Does that count?
One of my friends at work dyed her hair and it looks brilliant, so I have decided to take the plunge and bought a similar colour. I will get Tracey to do it, as she is a hairdresser. I want to do something wild to express myself after this horrible time I've had. Wasn't a bad day, made better by flirting outrageously with Johnny. :winky: |
What colour, T?
|
It was a dark red colour, one of the Swartzkopf Live Color XXL. She has the same colour hair as me (dark brown verging on black) but it came out looking really nice. :).
On reading the leaflet, it appears I will have to wait a while, as I pit henna in my hair about a week ago. It has gone slightly red, but a lot of messing around for a very subtle result, so I just want to go for it. Tracey will be able to advise me. Becaise of the henna, my grey hairs have gone proper ginger! D: |
Ah I used to use that one, I think. Tried a bunch of the Schwarzkopf dyes. My hair's pretty dark too but it always turned out really nice :)
What kind of henna did you use? Because it might well react badly with the dye. I think if it was pure henna, like what Lush sell, that's okay, but otherwise there's chemicals in it that are Bad News. |
Yeah, it was the Lush stuff. :) Hopefully it will be ok. Thanks.
|
I can't even begin to say how little I know of those things. But I've got dark hair. I'm also alive.
|
...I am so sore. My legs haven't healed yet from a work out I think was too strenuous for me due to my lack of training recently.
It doesn't help my shoes just gave out, like, literally. They fell apart on me the other night so I have to wait until the beginning of May for a new pair. Thankfully I brought my flip flops when we raided the storage unit a couple weeks back. So, no arch support...yaaaaaayyyyyuuggghhhh. ;_; My brother tried lending me his shoes but not only are they two sizes too big but the also offer no support for my legs and only make my right thigh and hip hurt for whatever reason. This week sucks. Edit: Jesus, I think my cousin and his wife/girlfriend might be splitting up soon. Their relationship has never been what you might call, stable or a good idea by any means even after having a daughter that they both have helped ruin due to doing nothing but spoiling her. Their arguments have rattled the walls in this house for months and she just recently started moving her clothes to another place and just bought some furniture for it. Its like watching a car crash in slow motion. |
I had my first marmite today. Stuff's delicious.
|
Marmite is useless. Get Vegimite. That is what it's all about W
|
Marmite owns, Vegemite is a weak imitation :D
|
What are all these weird words you people are using? Are these things food?
|
Marmite is a weak substitute for authentic vegemite. Non-australian vegemite has been weakened for the international palate.
Most americans I know who've seen it think it's some kind of boot polish. But for you Sioux - vegemite is a yeast extract that's essentially salt and vitamin B in a tub. |
I see. Well, it sounds like something I'll never get to try but enjoy people, enjoy your tub of salt and...vitamins.
|
It really doesn't sound anything but horrible, does it?
I'll make sure to try australian vegemite then, if I ever get the chance. |
In the UK we have this stuff called Bovril, which is like Marmite but is made with beef. It is essentially meant to be added to hot water and consumed as a drink, but I grew up using it as Marmite. So much more satisfying than said yeast extract pastes. :) Except when your dad makes Bovril sandwiches with it spread half an inch thick. :yuck: Too much of a good thing... :retard:
|
I'm still looking for a way to get my hands on Bovril. Beefy, salty, yummy (by the sound of it).
|
It is yummy. :) I wish I had some now. ^_^
|

Saw Titanic all the way through for the first time yesterday; the 3D edit.
Wow I missed out all these years. Like Dirty Dancing, which I saw 10 years after everyonr else... -_- The 3-D effects were pretty shallow, though. |
You know the ship takes longer to sink in the movie than it did in real life?
