Yami DTL Jun 9, 2012 09:54 PM

Ah.. Haven't commented in a while. After I made my recent post, I did return home the day after that. ^^;

@DeeDee, darn. That's what I was kind of afraid of (something like that happening) when I went to the concert. Luckily that didn't happen.

Last night, I found out that one of the first Japanese singers I had listened to and liked, will be coming to a convention (that's next weekend) that's much closer to me than the other one was. At first I was happy, then I remembered how much money was spent going to the other one, and I don't know if I could put up with more loud speakers at another concert. ^^; May go, may not.

DeeDee Jun 9, 2012 11:55 PM

Hey Aether! Nothing to be honest, I finished school with my A levels, got a job, got made redundant and here I am! Another young person in Britain who's unemployed. But at least I'm not the only one. Oh, and as I said earlier, I've joined the 21st century with Broadband :P Apart from that, nothing worth posting. How about things with you? What's been happening since I left here?

@Yami, I wouldn't be afraid of, per say. It happens to a minority not a majority so enjoy it! I would go to this other concert you're on about. Think about what would happen if you didn't go. You'd probably regret it, right?

Yami DTL Jun 10, 2012 04:27 AM

@DeeDee I would like to go to the concert, but now I have found out that I lost my PS2 (the console, controller and memory card.). I want to get another one (can only find them used now), it'll probably cost like $50.00. Going to the concert would cost $70.00 for two people ($35.00 each.) My parents have already spent a lot to take me to the other concert (just from driving to there and back and staying at a hotel), this seems like a bit much now in a short amount of time. =/

DeeDee Jun 10, 2012 06:05 AM

How on earth did you manage to lose a whole console :P. That's fair enough, I'm sure there will be other chances to go.

And in other news, I'm going to Download today! Very excited!

Aether Jun 10, 2012 06:55 AM

Download, That's a music concert yes?

/oldperson question

Tallulah Jun 10, 2012 02:21 PM

@ Aether: I'm older than you, and I know that Download is a rock/metal festival. :D On that note, @DeeDee: have fun! :) #welljel. Also @Yami, I think you can get special rarplugs that protect your ears but don't interfere with the music clarity. I need a pair for when I (rarely) go out; Home, the new number 1 nightspot here, is annoyingly loud... >_<

That awesome moment when your evil boss isn't so bad at all. Happened to me yesterday. We have a new maternity cover business manager who is scary as hell, but actually acted practically human. She stood around me with a clipboard for a few minutes while I was on order window (surprise, sur-bloody-prise! Actually, I volunteered) and made me so nervous I put a £5 in the £10 slot and dropped change, but I think she was impressed with my work. :) I'm glad she caught me in a good mood; it was my last day there before London tomorrow.

I have asked for a laptop for my birthday, so I went around Curry's/PC World taking reference photos of my favourites. I am particularly taken with a Toshiba Satellite model so I made a specific note of it. I pity my father's wallet..

I'm looking forward to posting on a computer again as opposed to a phone. I hate hitting the wrong keys!

Aether Jun 10, 2012 10:28 PM

You're older than me T? It can't be that much older.

Yeah the Toshiva Sattelites are a pretty nice machine, we sell lots of them at work. You just have to remove all the bloat ware off them once you get it.

Tallulah Jun 11, 2012 06:02 AM

29 on Saturday; though a lot of people at work put me at about 23-26. I love them! ^_^

Sat in McDonald's at the moment, train is in 20 ninutes. I borrowed a holdall from my parents so I'm returning it today. With that and my own bag, I feel like a smuggler of some sort. :s

Aether Jun 11, 2012 06:29 AM

Oh wow, you're like a whole year older! That's nto really that much. But happy pre-emptive birthday anyway T.

Andy Jun 11, 2012 02:23 PM

To think we were all teenagers when we came here...

Have to get a new laptop this week. Going to be fun...

Wingly Jun 11, 2012 04:48 PM

You people are old, like, fossils, and fuel and stuff. You know, old.

Aether Jun 11, 2012 09:39 PM

If you squeeze me hard enough W, I'll turn to diamond ^_^

Nurse Fin Jun 12, 2012 05:35 AM

I haven't been here in aaaages.

Man.

Speaking of ages, in a couple months I'm going to be twice the age I was when I joined. Yikes.

Aether Jun 12, 2012 08:00 AM

Well hello there Fin, how have you been? Anything you can tell us, or is it all classified? ;D

Tallulah Jun 12, 2012 11:02 AM

Hi, Fin, long time no see. :D

Speaking of which, I just went by my old high school... Completely different! o_O

Andy Jun 12, 2012 03:09 PM

Indeed. When I last went past my school they had more defenses up but when I went by the school in Mexborough I was scared for different reasons. I had my wallet on me...

Egads where does the time go?

Also, long time Fin.

Frei Jun 12, 2012 05:49 PM

Heya Fin, how's it going?

DeeDee Jun 12, 2012 06:51 PM

I'm back from Download, and alive. Just. Black Sabbath were amazing! @Tallulah. Of course you would have heard about it, it's essentially down to road from us (slight exaggeration, but you get my idea). Definitely an awesome day, maybe next year Taulluah? :P

Hey Fin, good to see you back :)

Nurse Fin Jun 13, 2012 07:13 AM

Hmm... I dunno if I've been doing that much.
Well, maybe.

I play some guitar now. I made a few thousand dollars selling off my lolita clothing (still have a few pieces in reserve), been using that as my general spending money. Lucky me, I had a lucrative hobby in high school.

I like to travel and bum around in cafes (I'm a regular everywhere it's kinda scary), and I had a blast in San Jose last month. My hotel roommates were awwwwesome. I do cosplay now, which probably isn't any better than lolita:laugh: But it's tons of fun and it's social and I love meeting new people. But I never keep in contact with anyone for long so despite all the superficial social stuff I am usually alone. boo.

Currently jobless. Slightly interested in becoming a court reporter. Or makeup artist, or a pegasus, or a Barbie since she can do everything. Job hunting is rather tough thanks to all the silent discrimination.

Worked in an office last year, but it was a temporary thing and they wouldn't keep me because I was not a student. They get tax breaks for hiring student workers so I wasn't worth keeping I guess.

Still importing my games, probably playing a lot more games than I used to. Right now I'm mostly active in the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory communities doing game translations, Famitsu translations, reviews, game help... fun stuff. RF4's coming out in July wooohoo!

Aether Jun 13, 2012 08:12 AM

Well it does seem that you're keeping yourself fairly busy Fin. Although I will admit I don't think I've ever seen you not in Lolita stuff haha. If you cosplay, do you have an album somewhere or do you beling to a cosplay group? I hear they're big things now :P

Nurse Fin Jun 13, 2012 06:26 PM

It's not nearly as busy as it sounds, trust me.:P

It seems like only 5-10% of my photos go online (hmmm...) so there aren't many out there. I have "albums" but they are empty. I'm not in it for getting my photo taken, really-- the only way to get a lot of good photos would be a photoshoot anyhow. Will have to do that sometime.

I haven't joined any cosplay group since there tends to be a wide gap in interests-- the only anime character I do is Asuka, the rest are from video games. I don't have the money or closet space to waste on making some Bleach/Vocaloid/whateverispopularidk costume just so I can match with some other people. :yuck: I've done some pair cosplays with my friend, though, since we both have similar interests.

I'll see if I can dig up some photos, but chances are I'll only come up with <5.

Tallulah Jun 14, 2012 12:15 PM

Just got my laptop. It's the one I wanted but it's a little bit less poweful with an AMD processor. I guess beggars can't be choosers... -_-

Actually. They can choose where to beg. Outside a shop, between shops, smaller population, bigger population. They've got so many choices. :cookie:

Nurse Fin Jun 14, 2012 11:03 PM

My laptop's battery is almost dead, but I'm too cheap to buy a replacement battery. Using the charging cable when I need it seems to be fine enough for me. But it's awfully convenient how the battery starts dying a few months after the warranty is up.

Tallulah Jun 15, 2012 06:47 AM

My old laptop is near enough ten years old, hence why a new one is needed...

@ Wingly: I lol'd. Very true, but you know what I mean. :P

Yami DTL Jun 16, 2012 06:18 PM

The concert at the convention is tonight, and I won't be going. Bad timing basically, with how I had just gone to that other one not too long ago. I may be able to go to the convention tomorrow though with my dad as there's going to be an autograph signing with that singer. An autograph would be cool.

Also, this morning, another one of the fish jumped out of the fish tank.. Didn't like seeing that again.. =/

Tallulah Jun 16, 2012 08:59 PM

Why do fish do that? It's quite disconcerting... :s Anyways, have a good time at the convention, Yami. :)

So far, I love my new laptop! :D Just like a kid, I have been on it for most of the day. I hope it connects as easily to my wireless hub as it did to my parents' one.

Frei Jun 16, 2012 09:03 PM

Put a lid on your fish tank Yami :3

Yami DTL Jun 17, 2012 02:32 AM

There used to be a lid on the tank, then it was taken off to see if, some how, that would make the water stop from getting cloudy (and eventually dirty) so often. That didn't work obviously, as it's still been doing that. Since then, the lid's been thrown out. Don't have another one either. =/

Aether Jun 17, 2012 11:50 AM

Two words.

Glad. Wrap.

Yami DTL Jun 17, 2012 09:31 PM

Just got back from the convention. Didn't stay long, the only thing I had wanted to do was get the autograph, and I was able to. The singer was really cool. When I went up to the table, and showed him the CD, he was like, "Ooh, sugoi *something something*". (I couldn't recognize the other words he said. lol.) Basically he was surprised and really happy to see it. He asked me, "Where did you get this?". I said, "Online store." (I was nervous! ^^;.) He asked, "Internet?", I said, "Yeah." and he was like, "Ooh, incredible." lol. I said "Thank you." after he signed it, and we left. (his English was actually pretty good. Wasn't hard to understand) Walked around more, went outside for a bit. Then something surprising happened when we went back inside. We stood around for a bit, when my dad said, "Look." The singer happened to be walking by us, he saw me, smiled, and waved to me. ^_^ I waved back. lol. I couldn't believe that actually happened, it made my day. (*^^*)

I had a good time there. :)

Frei Jun 18, 2012 04:27 PM

Who's the singer? :)

Yami DTL Jun 18, 2012 06:21 PM

Tanimoto Takayoshi. He's done songs for Digimon, Konjiki no Gash Bell (Zatch Bell in the dub version), Transformers Super Link (Transformers Energon was the English version) and Dragon Ball Z Kai. Also for some games, and for some "Sentai" (Japanese version of the Power Rangers?) shows.

Phoenix Jun 19, 2012 02:22 AM

So my phone went through the wash and was dead last night and this morning, but it's working again now. Figures it would start working 30mins after I got the email that the replacement was being shipped.

edit: and somehow I forgot to mention my newest acquisition:

Tallulah Jun 19, 2012 06:49 PM

Ick. So annoyed.

England better win if they want me in a good mood at work tomorrow. :retard:

DeeDee Jun 20, 2012 10:04 PM

Well England won, but I'd be surprised if they beat Italy in the quarter finals. Wow, I have faith in my country.

In other news, I'm going on holiday tomorrow! So excited!

Tallulah Jun 21, 2012 09:09 PM

^ Agreed, and have a good holiday. :)

Day from hell at work today; the system shut down as some water got into the electrics and we had to shout through orders and shut the drive-thru lane. :/ It worked out well as we had some competent people (Simon, Rose, Luke) in kitchen, and the matter was rectified at about half 12. Still an inconvenience, though.

Gonna have to get a haircut tomorrow, it is totally irritating me at the moment. :yuck:

Phoenix Jun 28, 2012 03:57 PM

Woo, healthcare upheld in the supreme court. Going to be an interesting few days of reactions and political jousting. Now to see what happens in the elections.

Aether Jun 28, 2012 09:38 PM

I honestly always found it confusing that Americans seemed to be so against the changes. I heard one guy complain that he shouldn't be paying for someone else with his taxes. It just made America as a whole seem incredibly conceited and selfish.

BZero Jun 28, 2012 09:58 PM

Yeah, I don't get it either. It's not like Americans aren't already paying taxes for other services they never use. How is free healthcare any different?
