Yes, the films are a load of bollocks, but if you don't enjoy the books, the basis of the series, chances are you're a moron with an IQ of about 10 who simply doesn't read much, period. Either that, or you don't appreciate books which are more complicated than "Ben is a dog. Ben ran away. Run Ben run."

To be frank, even if you don't like the concept, the characters, the setting, the plot, or even JK's style of writing, you have to appreciate what a huge effect this has had on the children of our generations and ones before and after us everywhere. If you're just going to be shallow and instantly say "Oh, hary potter kiddy sux", fine. I don't care if you don't like the books. Don't like them. It's not everybody's cup of tea.

However, don't be so stupid. Hate them, but appreciate them.

I told them their IQ was low because people who act like that have no appreciation for the effort that went into the books, and the series in general, and generally they refuse to acknowledge the fact of how much it has effected the world, and how much of a great achievement it is in terms of literature. You should know. You're the lit mod. What I was suggesting by saying they had a low IQ was that they perhaps weren't intelligent enough to see past their dislike to the genius that there is at the core of the novels. Maybe it wasn't obvious enough. But there it is now, in black and white.
