Post Splinter Cell: Dual Force (work in progress...)

Hello everyone! Have you ever imagined what it would be like if YOU were set in the ever-so-awsome world of Splinter Cell? Well, a friend and I did. And we started writing a book about our crazy "adventures."

The result - Splinter Cell: Dual Force (working title). In this, you will follow the tales of Agent Crossfire(Me) and Agent Red Rain(My Wonderful Friend) as they unfold into something contriversal that you will be left in shock! Okay, maybe I exagurated a bit, but it's still a good read. We plan to publish it once it is complete, so be on the lookout for this in the future.

But for now, a preview - our very first mission together. Since it may be confusing to a few people here's how you read it: Since it is written in the 1st person perspective of two different people, their names will appear above every section, this tells you that the person speaking is changing from one to another. Once you get that down, you should be able to enjoy this a bit. So, here we go (note, basic knowledge of the Splinter Cell universe is required to fully enjoy this piece).

Agent Red Rain

Sitting in the shadows of Lambert’s office, I await for my associate, my new associate. I thought Splinter Cells were supposed to work alone, but Lambert obviously doesn’t remember that rule. Maybe it’ll be co-op, darn it. I work alone.
Voices beyond the door give me my cue. Doing a split jump, I anchor myself right above the door. Lambert walks through first, then a short dude. Oh gosh, he’s really not my partner is he? Lambert’s gonna get it.
“Well she was in here,” Lambert says, confused.
“I’m not working with any girl,” the little man spits.
“I take that with offense,” I say as I drop and slide my arm around his neck with my standard issue battle knife. The little man freezes then grins.
“Well, at least she’s good for something,” the man laughs.
“Agent Crossfire, meet Agent Red Rain,” Lambert introduces us. I release the man and we stand face to face naming off our statistics.
“I have 193 confirmed kills,” I chime.
“I’ve successfully completed 54 missions,” he says.
“I’ve never set off an alarm,” I grin.
“I’ve never been shot,” he growls.
“You two are going to get along fine,” Lambert chuckles.

Agent Crossfire

I once had a partner, a rookie, just out of training. It was our first mission, we were doing just fine until my partner tripped, triggering an alarm. I yelled at him to get behind some cover, but it was too late, the Chinese soldiers darted around the corner and began firing. He was hit, then he lay on the ground, bleeding.
As the Chinese walked up to his bloody corpse, I grabbed my Five-seveN pistol out of the holster and started shooting. Plucking them off one by one, I nailed each and every one of those trigger-happy morons. After that, I vowed never to work with a partner again, but Lambert thought differently.
“Listen you two, I know both of you don’t have very good memories of past partners, but you’ll just have to suck it up and move on. Third Echelon is counting on you,” Lambert says. Thinking to myself, I wondered if the same thing would happen again. Then I thought, Nah, nobody has ever caught me like that before.
I refuse to let history repeat itself, and this partnership will work.
“Alright little guy,” she says, “You ready to go?”
“Ready as ever,” I exclaim with assurance.
“Lambert, what’s our mission ,” we say simultaneously.

Agent Red Rain

Tightening the straps on my parachute, I look over at my partner. Agent Crossfire, his code name holds all it’s meaning. I’ll have to watch out for this guy.
“Ya ready?” I holler over the noise of the plane.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” he yells back.
Pulling out headsets down, we prepare to jump. Just to keep him on his toes, I shove my associate over. Then I jump after him. Dropping several feet each second, I watch, as the lights of our target loomed nearer, the royal castle of Russia.
Our mission is to “pursuade” the czar to not declare war with the United States. Pursuade, ha! More like negative reinforcement, but as always, Lambert has to twist words. Agent Crossfire is just ahead of me and we rip open our parachutes at the same time.
The landings are perfect, quiet and unseen. Crossfire pulls his SC-20K out and I unholster my Five-seveN. All clear. So far Crossfire hasn’t been that bad. If I lose him, then he’ll be my eighth dead partner.

Agent Crossfire

With my SC-20K firmly grasped in my hands, I equip the launcher attachment and load it full of sticky shockers; I am prepared for anything. My partner and I slowly creep up the cement path, both taking separate sides, awaiting the 7:00 p.m. patrol crew.
“Psst,” I whisper to Red Rain.
“What do you want?” she snaps back.
“Listen,” I start, “I’m willing to work together if you are.”
“Can we discuss this later?” she asks in response.
After our little conversation, I continue sneaking to the door when out of nowhere, the patrol crew emerged from the shadows. Hee hee, what luck that there is a little pool right next to them. With my sticky shockers prepared, my partner tosses a rock into the pool, getting them completely drenched in water. Perfect, with the splash of water still in the air, I shoot a stick shocker into the pool. Zzap! All ten of those nightly goons drop unconscious. Man, what a pretty show of lights, I’m surprised nobody came busting out the doors in their suspicion.
“Nice!” my partner congratulates me.
“Thanks, but let’s get moving,” I reply.
“Good Idea”
I move over to check the bodies when my suspicious buddies I was talking about come pouring out the door. Crap! There must be at least twelve soldiers. We duck into the shadows, dragging along as many bodies as we can, and load our weapons.
Before we have time to react, the soldiers revive the uncovered bodies and begin walking back into the palace, probably to ask what happened. Flipping down my night-vision goggles, I scout the area for an alternate route inside. Bingo! There’s one right there along the wall.
Moving towards the door, my partner finds a little satchel containing a portable harddrive near one of our hidden bodies.
“Excellent,” she says with enthusiasm, “we can probably use this, we need a computer.”
“Chances are the palace will be full of them,” I reply.

Russian Palace
Czar Czech Kombayne
October 28, 2008
7:30 p.m.

Czech Kombayne, the recently elected czar of Russia sat in his chair awaiting news from the guards out front. He relentlessly tapped his fingers on his newly varnished cherry desk. Then, bursting into the room, was the news he’s been waiting for… or so he thought.
“Sir,” the one in front began, “urgent news from the 7:00 patrol, sir.”
“Well…” the czar impatiently replied.
“Oh, yes. A bunch of our men were zapped by some kind of zapper, sir.”
“And…” Czech says as he began to tap his fingers faster in his impatience.
“Sir, most of our men disappeared!”
Then, the only two men that have been found came breaking in.
“Sir, a rock was tossed into the pool, we all got wet, and after that…”
“Yes…” Kombayne began to show interest.
“After that… I can’t recall anything after that.”
“Darn it! You all are a waste of my time!” the czar exclaimed as he pulled a pistol out of his desk and killed the last person to speak, blood flew everywhere.

Agent Crossfire

My partner and I continue on our conquest to reach the door, only to find out that it’s locked.
“No problem,” Rain says to me. “I’ve got this all under control.”
She pulls a disposable pick out of her pocket and sets it up so it explodes in three seconds. Three seconds later, the lock is unlocked and we proceed into the palace.
I hope this is the palace, because it is nothing but pure darkness in this room. We activate our night vision and prepare our Five-seveNs. With that out of the way, we continue down the dark hallway.

Agent Red Rain

The long dark hallway stretches out before us. I can hear my little associate’s breathing. I put a finger to his lips, a signal for him to quiet his intake of oxygen. He goes silent.
Switching on my EMV, I scout out the hall. Lasers stripe the open air. I looked to Crossfire and stifle a laugh.
I leap into the spider web of lasers. Gracefully, I dance through the alarm triggers, never nearing the edges. One laser would put the entire place on alert, but I don’t have to worry about that. Making it to the end, I walk casually into the office at the end and switch off the alarms. Tapping the wall four times, I give my signal to Crossfire. He came crawling.
“Good job,” he whispers.
“Shut up!” I hiss; a group of guards are approaching.

Agent Crossfire

Rain and I each duck in opposite corners. She does a split-jump while I cling my back to the wall, turn on my EMV, and wait for the light to come on.
Just as I had expected, the light comes on directly where I am aiming, I jam the light and then take it out.
“Stupid thing’s broke,” a guard says.
I duck back around the corner and whistle.
“What the heck was that?!” another guard says in suspicion.
Darn, I only got one guard to come. Oh, well. I do a split-jump and wait for him. The moron walks right past me. I drop down and grab him.
“Nice building,” I say.
“Wha… Wha?!” the goon says, confused.
“Shut up!” I blurt back. “Tell me any one useful piece of information and I might let you live.” I squeeze my knife tighter against his throat to make him talk honestly.
“Ok, ok… Just don’t kill me,” he starts with fear.
“A captain and some men were seen upstairs. Apparently, they have been called in for a meeting with Czech Kombayne, but I swear that’s all I know,” he says as I jab my knife into his back, killing him.
That being her cue, my partner whistles, grabbing the attention of the other two guys. I resume my split-jump position, and as the guys reach the intersection, Red Rain and I open fire, killing them both.

Agent Red Rain

One bullet, one dead body. That’s how this business works. If that ratio is upset, then you’re no Splinter Cell.
Dropping from my ceiling position, I round the corner and make my way up the stairs. Voices up ahead. I shall make them forever silent. One, two, three, and four men down with four bullets sent through their skulls, sweet.
A barrel presses into the back of my head. I curse quietly.
“Freeze,” the Russian captain stutters.
But a soft click and then a loud thud tell me he’s dead.
“Thanks.” I mutter to Crossfire.
“You’re welcome,” he says. “Hey, your face went pale, and I mean really white. Bad experiences?”
“I’ll tell you later sometime.”
My mind flashes back to unhappier times of captivity. Torture is something I’m good at because I’ve been through it numerous times. I have the scars to prove it.
Shaking the memories away, I help little man drag the bodies to a broom closet. I shoot the lights out and search the room. There’s nothing.
Wait?
Oh, yeah! A data stick, perfect. I hand it to Crossfire for safekeeping.
I keep moving through. A shadow! Crap! I push Crossfire into a corner and position myself so the guy would be shoulder to shoulder with me.
He stops at the entrance then takes two steps forward. I sneak behind him, then grab the little petty security man.
“Where’s Czech Kombayne?” I hiss.
“In his office on the top floor! Please, don’t kill me!” he squeals.
“Too bad,” I whisper, then slit his throat.
“Whoa,” Crossfire marvels.
“Another secret. Now, lead on,” I whisper. It feels worse after words.

Agent Crossfire

My policy—if they ask for their lives, I take em’. If they beg me to kill them… Well, that’s a different story. Let em’ suffer.
Rain and I begin walking up the stairs when we hear another noise. Now what? Turns out the people in the room above don’t want anybody interfering because they locked the door. Too Bad! Rain hands me another disposable pick and I blow the lock off the door. Man, I love DP’s.
We walk into the door only to find a vacant room. Whoever locked the door must’ve hurried off elsewhere.
“Take that!” two men yell as they open fire into the darkness near the door.
Well, looks like we got our work cut out for us for the next thirty seconds.

Agent Red Rain

I take a flash grenade off my belt and toss it into the room while simultaneously pulling the ring. A few seconds later a flash and a bang erupts before us. Crossfire and I cover our eyes so the light does not blind us.
We button hook the doorway and scan the room. Hmph! Only three. I shoot a single bullet into each of their skulls. Well, no threats in this room anymore.
The annoying hum of a surveillance camera suddenly catches my attention. I stare right at it and wave, then I shoot the lens.
Crossfire hides the bodies while I search the room for any clues or usable info. Nope, darn. Oh well.
The sound of running footsteps make both of us dive for cover. I reach into my cargo pocket and grab a handful of caltrops (four-point floor tacks) and throw them down the hall. I love my job. Hehehehehe.

Agent Crossfire

Ah, yes. Those prickly things… I hated those. Back in Splinter Cell training at the Third Echelon Main Base of Operations, we were being tested on how we would handle under pressure.
One of the obstacles were the little prickly things… which I hate! Yes, this was back in the day when Lambert was cruel. He tossed me and three others into a dark room, we also weren’t issued our NV goggles yet, so we were kinda screwed.
One of the other guys took a step forward and then… well… then… Ahhhhhhh!!! Yeah, you get the picture.
Ever since then I despised those caltrops, but man don’t these morons bring back memories…
“Ahhhhhhh!!!” Oops, guess they found em’.

Russian Palace
Czar Czech Kombayne
October 28, 2008
8:00 p.m.

News of an intrusion had just reached the office of Czech Kombayne. Knowing of the threat, he issued a building-wide lockdown. Every door sealed shut.
“That should keep them out,” Czech said to himself. Little did he know that the doors are sealed, but only the doors, the ventilation systems remained open to deliver heat on this cold October night.
The czar walked to his window and peers down into the royal parking lot.
“It’s too quiet,” he said. Kombayne walked back over to his desk in a worried manner, tip-toeing so he is not to be heard.
Just then, the intercom ringed.
“Sir,” a voice fearfully said.
“Yes,” Kombayne said with the same level of fear.
“The lockdown’s jammed sir,” the voice responded.

Agent Crossfire

Hmph… a lockdown. Don’t they know that they can’t keep me locked up? It just doesn’t work. The three guys in the room with us are now dead and Rain and I proceed to the locked door.
Hmm… Not locked. Not even an extra door… slight malfunction I guess. Well, time to really go to work. This will be their last mistake.
Only the staircase before us stands in our way. We make it to the top, and the czar is all ours. Let’s just hope that he doesn’t resign before we reach the top, then this will get a lot more complicated.
“Lambert,” I begin on the OPSAT.
“Yes, what do you need Crossfire?” Lambert responds.
“We need a blackout in ten,” Rain intrudes.
“I’ll put Grim right on it,” Lambert says.
Ten seconds have passed; the lights are no more. Mission time!

Agent Red Rain

Darkness, I relish the lack of light. Moving along the walls, Crossfire and I hold our SC-20Ks at the ready with sticky shockers ready to go. The night vision reveals an ornate hallway with two doors. I take the one on the left and I use the “worm camera,” as I call it, and look into the room. Hmm, nothing but a conference room. The heat mode doesn’t reveal anything living.
So Crossfire and I hold our guns at the ready as he silently opens the door. The beam of a flashlight creeps through the doorway as we slide back into the dark hall.
“W-who’s there? Sh-show yourself!” the czar stutters with fear. I pull out my Five-seveN and take out the bulb of the flashlight without injuring the czar. Perfect shot.
“What the he—“ the czar starts as Crossfire comes in from behind and grabs him, but I spoke with an accent to cover my American citizenship. That way he can’t trace it back to us and definitely start a war.
“Well, my friend, quite the predicament you’re in, no?” I say with a slightly British accent with a tinge of African.
“Who are you? What do you want with me?” The czar cries out desperately.
“I am a friend of the Americans, a former enemy if you wish to be technical. We went to war with them once, it was a mistake because we were annihilated. I don’t think you want that to happen to your precious Russia, do you?” I say throwing my voice to various areas to keep him guessing where I really am.
“No, no I love my country. We just hate the Americans. They think they can push us around!” The czar says. I had to stifle a giggle. If he only knew.
“Then I suggest you straighten up your country to a respectable status. Comprende?” I finish. My blade presses up against his neck.
“Yes, yes! Just don’t kill me! I promise on my life I won’t go to war with them!” the czar pleads.
“We’ll be back if you do. And trust me, we’ll know,” I growl. Crossfire shoves the quivering body of nerves into the leisure chair then we take off.
“Lambert, we’re ready for extraction,” I say through my implant.
“I hope you don’t mind flying,” Lambert chuckles. Punching open the fire escape door to the roof, we feel the crisp air blow against our flesh as we climb out. Crossfire makes it in the helicopter first while I watch our backs.
A single gunman opens fire on me. With bullets ricocheting off the helicopter, I return my own metal. A single bullet nicks my left arm and it begins to bleed. The bleeding’s pretty bad, but I don’t waver.
My last shot gets the idiot right in the throat. Yes! I climb into the copter and we take off.
Crossfire is in the middle of a conversation with Lambert. Sounds like he’s telling Lambert the fine details of the mission as I move over to take a seat next to him. One, the only, assistant brings a first aid over but I fix myself.
I sew the open wound shut with a needle and medicinal thread. It isn’t pretty but it’s better this way then open to get infected.
Crossfire and I shake hands. Well, it wasn’t a total disaster.

Questions and comments are welcome, in fact, that's the whole purpose of this thread, to get the opinions of others.

One last thing, please note that this is copy/pasted directly from Microsoft Word, so some paragraphs that didn't appear indented are actually indented in Word. But that isn't much of a big deal
