I use Adobe Photoshop, but you can always google & download GIMP - it's almost exactly like PS I heard.

Then again, there's always MS Paint.

Holding down shift should help when making straight lines. Also, next time just try hitting the edit button before you double post Just so it doesn't look messy.

There are also lots of tutorials online. Just google everything. Though if you really need help with a lot of things just drop me a PM and I can try & help you.

Personal opinion here, but I think a border is always a good place to start. Just contains everything nicely.

Next up is to work on your extraction. Though for the most part you've done a good job - hair is always difficult to isolate and often leaves the little white bits like those around Yuna. You might also want to look into using layer styles in order to work those renders in a little better as right now there doesn't seem to be any 'flow' so to speak. This links in nicely with my next point and that's your use of text. The blue is nice but it's hard to see it, being as most of the image is blue. Format the text layer and then simply use an exterior stroke and you've got an easy way for your text to stand out.

But considering this is your first attempt, I'd be happy with the result. Look around at a few tutorials, put in some practice and you'll be well on your way :]

New Question but i thought id better use this old thread to save space and such now on to the question

If we have avatars or sigs we made and want to get them critiqued and such do i just post up my own thread and post em up or is there a specific thread/area for this?

Thought id ask before doing so

Well, there's the ultimate ratings thread sticked at the top of this forum - you can use that for getting bits and pieces of work rated and getting some tips. If you want to go into detail about how to do stuff, you could made a thread.
