Shadow Hearts and Shin Megami Tensei

Hey everyone, hope you've all been doing well...for the last few years I guess..

Anyways, I'm running down the list of PS2 RPGs that are excellent games, but I haven't touched either of these series yet and have only heard good things about them. I was just hoping to get your thought on them.

Are they worth going after?

For the SMT games, it seems like there are a shitload of them, is there a particular order they need to be played in? Or are they all separate games like the Final Fantasies?

Also while we're at it any other games that you'd really recommend for the PS2, I've played a number of RPGs, but I'm sure far from all the good ones.

Shadow Hearts is one of my favorite games and one of my favorite series. I highly recommend checking it out. Of course, SMT are amazing as well. The Persona series all pretty much stand apart from each other, though SMT Nocturne was the best imo.You can't really go wrong with either.

The Shadow Hearts series, such good memories and probably has two games in the series I put in my top 25 easily, Shadow Hearts 1 and 2. The third game was good but I thought it went too far for the humor and lost alot more of the original tone of creepiness the series can have and characterization of the MCs. The series has great music too so go check that out.

The Shin Megami series and it's so many offshoots, such as Digital Devil Saga and Persona. For those who want to get into the Megaten games, I recommend the Persona series first since it provides a small sample of what you're expected to deal with in the series and other offshoots.
Persona 4 is probably another one of those games that is up there for me as a really great game with a great story, characters, unique and great music, and very easy to pick up battle system. Though I should note this game is fairly difficult so you will see a few game overs but overall a great gaming experience.
Persona 3 is similar but the fact you can only control yourself (until the PSP remake) but the problem lies with the Tartarus. The reason is the fact you have to scale about 260 + floors which can very tedious. Other than that, if you find and love these games give the rest a shot too.
