Cliff Bleszinski took the stage at the
Spike VGAs last night to reveal
Epic Games‘ new IP
Fortnite, as well as a teaser trailer.*From what intel I could gather from various gaming websites, Fortnite sounds very familiar.
“We’ve had amazing success with games like
Gears Of War and
Infinity Blade this year, but we decided it was time to switch things up a little bit and do something different and fun,” said Bleszniski at the awards ceremony.
“Imagine a world where you explore, you scavenge, you build and ultimately you survive.”
So…
Minecraft then, Cliffy? It’s certainly a departure from Epic’s standard fare of Gears of War and the
Unreal games. Fortnite has a more cartoony look to it, but the concept seems interesting.
During the game’s day phase you explore the overworld and build your fort. At night the game becomes a thirdperson shooter in which you defend off hordes of the undead. The trailer also has Nolan North in it.

No platforms, publisher or release date were announced, but hopefully this sells well enough for Epic Games to consider remaking
Jazz Jackrabbit in HD.
