Take two and call me in the morning!
I opened up a new file and started battling Ozzy this afternoon. I was in pain for a majority of the fight. So I found myself doing something that I often don't do once I'm that far in the game.
I used Dagger's curaga.
That sounds so weird... but I realized that I usually count on other things to heal myself other than white magic.
What do you use most often for curing and bad status protection/removal? (Multiple choices are allowed on this poll)
---
I find that I count more on the abilities than anything else. Of course, there's the problems of when abilities don't protect against certain bad status ailments, like mini and berzerk, but I still end up counting on those much, much more than things like Eiko's Carbuncle summon, white magic (esuna/dispel), or throwing phoenix downs, or potions at each other.
---
So how do you play doctor to your team?

It all depends on what kind of things need to be dealt with at the time. If it's a status effect that can be cured with any easily found item, I use the instead of wasting magic for the corresponding spell, IE; using an Antidote instead of Panecea to heal poison.
But if it's something weird that there's no item for, or if I'm just out... I'll use Esuna or Dispel. But I mostly keep Daggie and Eikiee for Cure/a/aga...And the occasional summon, but I feel that they use too much magic to be useful...At least to me, since I'm not so great at MP conservation. ^^;;
Oh yeah, I keep potions in stock for times when the story forbids having a healer, weaker characters use the potions on everyone. w00t.... I guess.

I usally use Dagger's or Eiko's Curaga spells to heal everyone and if one of enemies cast a spell to protect them with (Like Protect) I would use Eiko's Dispel to take it off. For Esuna I would use if anyone got poisioned, Heat, Freezed etc. the summons would help alot in battle if I was in a tough situation (ARGH can't spell)

I use White Magic and the item command.
White magic is the most common for me to use. In fact, if I go 5 minutes without using Cure, you can faint.
But I only ever use Cura during battle.
If I get onto low HP, I'll use Curaga either way.
Sometimes I'll use abilities. I'll equip them according to the Strategy Guide.
But the problem is, I don't have enough points or whatever the word is. I always have Auto-Haste, Level up and Ability up when I get them, and so there's not much left to use on insomniac and stuff... but I use them when I can.
When I use the item command, I'll never use Potions, Hi-Potions, Ethers, or Elixirs.
"Use an Ether on Vivi! He's out of MP!"
"No! Not til I have 99 Ethers!"
"But then you'll get them all KO'd..."
"I don't care! I'm not using my ether!!!"
Hehe, okay, so maybe that doesn't happen exactly, but that's kinda like what it is.
And I'll never use potions while I have Dagger or Eiko in my party. If they're both out of MP, I'll have to, though.
If they just died, I'd use Phoenix Down's until they can cure me.
Even though, whenever I do that, they get KO'd again.
Well, at least he's not hitting Zidane...lol
Poor Dagger... :/

I use white magic throughout most of the game. I find it more efficient to carry around a few ethers for the odd chance that I run out of MP before visiting a town than to carry around a lot of potions. This really hurt me in Oelivert my first time through the game as I had very few potions but I couldn't use magic. I also have this thing where I always save my items, as I always wonder if I use an item now if I will need it later, so I use magic which is an easily replenishable source.

I usually had Dags and Quina in my team, so they always came in handy. I'd use Dags for healing, and Quina for removing status effects. When I was inflicted with Beserk, I'd counter with Gyashi Greens. When Mini was placed on me, and lift it with Angel's Snack. Being the fact that most status effects couldn't hurt me (yay for the power of abilities), there wasn't much need. Bust should Ark do Photon, or and Iron Man use Helm Divide, curative magic would take its due course: To heal my characters, let them avenge their wounds. Muah-haa-haa-haa-haaaa!!!! My Ultima Weapon has your name on it! Never again will you damage me!

I always use Garnet's and Eiko's curing magic to heal the party. I also use Status Support abilities like Auto-Regen,Clear Headed and other stuff to protect them against status attacks. Sometimes I use the Item command when one of them get something like Virus or something put on them that I dont have a support ability to equip to them to protect them against it. And even if I do have Auto-Regen equiped to everyone, I still use curaga just incase the enemy goes out of turn.

I ALMOST ALWAYS use Dagger's curaga!!! I'm a fraidy-cat, you know. I'm so scared of getting annihilated that I apppoint Eiko as my healer, keep her ATB full, and use Cura/CUraga when needed. Never Cure - what's the point? And my party is low at levels (40-60), so they can't possibly equip so many support abilities.....
To restore MP on the world map, I use a Tent. Tee-hee. Sab thinks I'm crazy. I have like 33 tents.
I NEVER use elixirs either. I DID use it once at Oeilvert, when I was just sick of hitting the 'x' button to cure the newly-revived Steiner with Hi-Potions... I have like 12 Elixirs now at Disc 4. Even in the last battle with Necron, I'd probably either forget to use Elixirs instead of magic, or keep having this unconscious guilt. "It's the LAST battle, for goodness's sake!!! JUST DO IT!!" I have a psychological problem, me thinks.

I use White magic. In my party, it's essential, no doubtless. No healer, use items or anti-abilities. I don't usually use summons except when I really, absolutely need it. Like the other time I used Phoenix against SoulCage when Zidane was dead...
Blue magic? Me never use Quina at all except when it's REALLY, ABSOLUTELY necessary to. I still remember Bliss having Quina at level 38 or something in the fourth disc... *glares at Bliss*
As for enduring pain... me no like!! I'm REALLY scared of getting annihilated. Like today I was playing my sis's file and fighting Necron, and when Necron did Blue Shockwave and hit one of my party, I Curagaed the WHOLE party...... When I have status-effects as a result of the Almighty Grand Cross, it's Items Galore!
I told you, I'm crazy. At the end of the battle with Necron and at the cut-scenes... my knees were still shaking... Okay, getting off-topic here!!

Healing, healing healing...
When I Reeeeeeeally far in the game actually I use... nothing. Auto - haste and Auto - Regen do the job just fine plus (I think it's called) Recover HP.
Early on I just use cure/cura/curaga plus items.

I cure a lot and I cure often. I hate to see my characters anywhere near critical health so I always keep their HP full where possible. Auto-Regen helps too.
I always have anti-status abilities equipped 24/7 so it's never a problem. But the only time I ever use items is when I need to cure Berserk and Zombie or when Dagger and/or Eiko succomes to Death. Then I use Phoenix Downs.
I think the most common cure spell I use is Cura. Auto-Regen does most of the work, and Cura is a quick boost. Curaga wastes my Auto-Regen purposes I think.

I don't usually use magic at all when it comes to healing. I usually equip them all with Auto- regen, and hope they're healed enough from one attack to endure the next attack. This usually works, because I feel I don't exactly have the time to spend on healing up myself ^^;;
However, when hit with one of those attacks that brings your entire party to 1HP each, THATS when you bring in the curagas, and full-cures! (after using Quina's limit glove though, of course )
