when will there be a portable xbox?

this something i was thinking about the other day nintendo have made a portable and normal console so have sony so when are we gonna see an xbox portable (looks xbox portable up on google image search)
please tell me this isnt real

There was a lot of speculation about this, but Microsoft decided to go make the Zune instead to go after the iPod, since the other console manufacturers haven't/aren't doing so well in that arena.

That isn't real, btw. It's obviously a render with a texture and a screenshot slapped on.

I think it may happen down the road, although it doesn't seem like a good idea. It could ruin them if they screw up, like the N Gage.

Whilst that picture is an obvious artist's conception (the keypad just looks badly Photoshopped) it would be a pretty nifty idea. It could accept UMD discs like the PSP, so could be a viable rival.

But, like the PSP, the full-sized X-Box/X-Box 360 would not be compatible, so consumers will have to buy the games again in their handhel X-Box form. And because of the downscaling, cost would go through the roof, so I don't think it's a viable option.

Oh yeah.. I came across this article somehow a while back. An XBox laptop is a rather nifty idea.

Yep, microsoft will go bust if they released a handheld console and it flops... microsoft > nokia + Nokia still going strong = microsoft have no worries.

I think the origami was more what people thought was a portable console... turned out to be an awesome piece of kit, but not recieved that well by the consumer... in a way like the PSP i guess.
