The Movies - 2008
Ripped from another forum I visit, but at least it was my thread originally so it's OK Basically it's a thread to discuss upcoming releases and to perhaps reveiw them as they go by.
Some movies that I am looking forward to (including a couple released today, so will be seeing soon);
Be Kind, Rewind
Rambo
Prince Caspian
Indiana Jones
The Incredible Hulk
The Dark Knight
X-Files
Journey 3D
and others. Some of the above are locks, others are movies I am not entirely sold on yet but will likely see. Another of the latter is 'Quantum of Solace'. I have an off again on again relationship with Bond. For example, my favourite of the films is probably 'Goldeneye' but I'm not much on the rest of Brosnan's run.
But, tell you what. 'WALL-E' is my 2008 Number 1 right now.

I am really interested in watching Jumper. That looks awesome.

The Dark Night - I'm going to go see it for more than just the fact that Heath Ledger died, but for the fact that he remade Joker so good. Sadly, it partly led to his death but, you know, he's a good character.
Iron Man - This is so going to revitalize Downey Jr's career and he does such a good Tony Stark.
The Incredible Hulk - He's the Hulk and a Marvel character. Reason senough to see it.
Prince Caspian - I saw parts of the first one and liked what I saw for the most part and one of my former teachers worked on the first one so I'm going to see the second in his honor.
Indiana Jones - Again, He's Indiana Jones, that enough reason.
X-Files - Both the actors who play Mulder and Scully literally don't look to have aged a day since 1994 so I'm going to see how they look in action in modern day film.
I'm seeing all these movies in that either actually paying to see or just streaming from Tvlinks or one of its bretheren sites(most likely the latter.)
Wall-e is looking like another Pixar beauty. Most of the 3D crowd in my school and the 3D instructors are already using it as subject matter for their discussions and lessons.
Hellboy and the Golden Army is also looking beautiful. I'm a hellboy art fan so you know, I'm going to see this movie. There is no stopping me.

Even though, granted, it's already been released, There Will Be Blood. Been waiting a long time for that, and I know I won't be disappointed.
And of course, The Dark Knight. Not much call for much else at the moment.

Wait. New X-Files film?
That's made my day. So with that at the top of the list, Star Trek is one that I'm definitely going to see, along with probably Jumper and I really want to see Meet the Spartans as well. XD Then of course there's The Dark Knight, Iron Man, John Rambo, and Be Kind, Rewind.
Looks set to be a damn good year for films.

X-Files, Jumper, Indiana Jones, Rambo, and Meet the Spartans all interest me, but I'm dirt poor and thus save my extra money for video games whenever I get the chance. Which means, I'll probably see them all when they come out on DVD, though I am very tempted to see the X-Files movie in theater, being a true Die-hard fan of the Mulder episodes...

Meet the Spartans it's fun, I already saw it on DVD. Some of the humor it's gross , and there are many references to movies, actuality and games (Go CJ!!!) . But some of the references can be hard to understand if you're not an American, or at least haven't seen 300.
But any movie that has a GTA San Andreas parody on it has to be great
The Simpsons came at mind.

I wanted to see Strange Wilderness, but I never made it to the theatre. As far as movies that will be coming out I really do want to see Penelope, the one with the pig-nosed Christina Ricci. Plus the new Simon Pegg movie that'll be coming out rather soonish.
And did I just see they're doing a live-action Dragonball Z? Sheesh, ride that money train a little while longer...

I'm guessing that by that you mean ' Run Fat Boy Run' directed by David Schwimmer? That, incidentally, has long been out and is now available on DVD in the UK. It's pretty good, but not of the calibre of films like Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Whilst the big two are obviously Indiana Jones and The Black Knight, there are a few(mostly) less known projects unmentioned as of yet that I'm looking forward to.
It probably won't be great, but I can't help but look forward to 'Horton Hears a Who!' partly because it's always fun to pair up Jim Carry and Steve Carrell especially now that the latter has a much more equal bidding , but mainly because I just love Dr Seuss.
Street Kings looks like an exciting movie, true, it sounds a little cliched and has Keanu Reeves in, but then that is balanced by the presence of Forrest Whitaker, and principally I'm curious to see how Hugh Laurie fairs in what I believe will be his first big-budget Hollywood turn.
Speed Racer is the latest film to be directed by the Wachowski Brothers, and from what I've heard it has just as much potential to be a truly dreadful film as a truly stunning picture, nevertheless it's hard to imagine a film by the duo which won't have at least one breathtaking moment.
In Wanted, James McAvoy who can do little wrong at the moment is teamed up with the great likes of Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie. From what I've heard this could be a film in a similar mould to Sin City, which is always exciting.
Peter Berg is, it is true, an up and coming director, but seemingly out of nowhere he's now been saddled by Will Smith in a big-budget summer blockbuster called Hancock which takes quite a cynical approach to the whole superhero movie genre. Has the potential to be quite interesting I think.
Pineapple Express is the next film which is by Seth Rogen, which seeing as I loved both Superbad and Knocked Up I shall anticipate with high hopes.
But truly I've left the best till last: Comeback. It's a family film starring Ice Cube and directed by Fred Durst (lead singer of Limp Bizkit.) If anyone has ever come across a better recipe for a film, then please let me know.

Speed Racer and DBZ: Two animes morphed in live action. Maybe... they'll work. But you must admit that the Mark V is freaking awesome on the movie.

Mach 5, you mean? I've known about the DBZ movie for a few months now, and I am skeptical they will make it work...

Aye, that would be the one. I think I was honestly a bigger fan of Hot Fuzz than Shawn of the Dead.. most people find it the other way around. I just know that I <3 Simon Pegg. And I hadn't heard of the Pineapple Express film.. but one I will probably have to see. I love that kid in SuperBad.

Buh? I admit Ice Cube can be a decent actor but... Absolutely no desire to see this one.

It was more the notion of Fred Durst directing a family 'coming of age' story that had me in stitches. Apologies, Fred.
