Some trouble with Legend of Dragoon

I'm guessing this is the most appropriate place to post this thread, if not, sorry.

Anyway, I just re-bought this game, new, starting playing through until I got to a big problem.

I'm on the second disc where I have to fight the bad guys' bitch and the big water dragon. Now, this game is bought brand new with no scratches but decides to blank out right after I beat the girl & water dragon, every time trying over 5 times.

I don't know what the problem is whether it's the game because it's greatest hits (which I doubt) or because it's running on the PS2 Slim Version. Can somebody give me any suggestion to why this is happening? Thanks.

It could definitely be the PS2 Slim that's the problem. I know I've heard several times that some games just don't run on it. If you still have the old PS kicking around I'd say it's time to bust it out, but since you probably would have already done that, the next best thing would be to hope there's finger print or a little dirt on the disk. If you haven't already just make sure give it a nice clean, even if it already looks good.

The only other ways I see are borrowing a friend's system to get passed that part (and hope it doesn't happen again), or download ePSXe to get passed it.

Would the Slim really be the problem? Some of my new discs don't run on my older PS2 (and maybe because it is old may be my issue...), but they work beautifully on my friend's PS2 Slim.

I'd check the discs, as Zeron said above. I'd use a Microfiber cloth to clean the disc. They pick up smudges and dirt really nice from my discs, and any other glass/screen appliances you may have. You can pry find some cheep at your nearest dollar store. I bought 2 small ones for the price of $1

Also, I use a can of air lightly to blow inside my Playstation (Though it isn't a Slim). I usualy blow it to the side though. Honestly, my location is the most dusty place in the world, so dust is common here to collect in things (My computer is always in desperate need of dusting on the inside). But if you try blowing inside the case yourself really lightly it should probably help.

Alright, luckily I still have my old PS at my dads' house so next week I'll hook it up and try it there and even though the discs are brand new I'll still get a cloth like you said and clean it just to make sure. My brother also has to go out and get Dust-Off for his keyboard so when he does that I'll just use it to clean out the all the dust in the PS2 like Miko... or Not Miko said? I haven't been here in so long so I don't know what happened to your name.

I don't know if this would change anything but could it be more the discs because after I beat the boss and the screen goes blank I still hear the motor & disc running inside.

Anyway, I'll just do what you two have said. Thanks.
