For something that price, the postage is ironically cheap.
Not too keen on the design. Feels like a 'dumbing-down' of the British legacy. Like if you were to put Paul McCartney on a £10 note.

I think they're cool, but Shned has a point; they do look kinda cheap...

I disagree about the "cheap" look-the lions have been a symbol of England for centuries and were used by great monarchs like Edward III, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
I quite like them-it's nice to have a change.

Wow, i like them
Very symbolic, but is the concept you can sort of build the royal coat of arms that's on that pound or are they just random cuts of it? :p

Saw this, they look pretty damn sweet.
£2 stays the same, though. The coin is "too new" to change, hah.

Me likey. To be fair though, I wouldn't mind if the government introduced the Euro as our official currency.

I'm the opposite. I believe Pound Sterling is one thing we have that is still, in essence, a degree of British pride. Granted, the Euro may be more convenient, but prices and values on an international scale would certainly take some getting used to. Especially with conversions from Sterling to American Dollars. I like the value we get.
Even if ASBOs and gun culture continue to rise, we still have our coinage.

I agree with Shned, even if our coins are now just jigsaw pieces
I mean, Royal Britannia

British pride, huh? After all, your Queen's a German and your PM a Scot.
But in all seriousness, they thought the Euro change-over in Ireland would be difficult, but it went really smoothly. After a few months I was no longer converting prices back into Irish pounds. I nearly forgot all about having to buy currency for going to Turkey last summer, I'm so used to being able to just take my wallet with me. And the Euro is doing really well on the currency markets as well; exploited that shit in New York back in September.
I can't understand all this national pride in your coinage malarkey... Besides, the Irish euro still has a harp on the back. But to each their own I suppose.
It is funny to see Northies in Dublin looking at their wallets in horror, used to getting change out of a fiver when buying two pints. Never gets old.
