Well, I love the art work. Its looking quite nice but mainly for other reasons than everyone else.
I have to say I hate the general urban stuff in video games as it just represents games to me that I never liked and I just hate the whole urban scene with a passion to begin with as its just not me...at all. And its a Japanese urban cultural scene, if that isn't terrible looking I don't know what is.
I like the art work due to the way the conceptual ideas are being processed and dealt with. They're not going full rendering with the basic concept ideas and perspective and scaling of buildings and whatnot, its all quick and dirty and the ideas are flowing on paper in various forms and through various processes.
The angle testings is all being done with simple un-textured models, really sketchy drawings and just touches of emphasis in direction with the lines and blocks of buildings. Its beautiful and is totally how it should be done. I am only gushing about this portion because I've had several teachers in the past year that are the old school "Drafting" type that kill you if your idea wasn't done with a shit load of reference and drawn perfectly with rulers first. And by law it should take days upon days to do your work according to them when in reality, it has to be quick, dirty, sketchy and fast, like this.
I also like alot of this because it feels really offbeat and artsy and all this concept stuff is fitting the mold of that idea. Its not your standard architectural firm coldness you get from alot of concept art out of the industry, this feels alive and has some attitude to boot. You get the idea and it wows you and makes you want to learn of this game and its intricacies and minute details. I'll probably do as I always do and wait a year or two to play it when its in a bargain bin somewhere at the back of a gameshop but It'll be worth the wait, I'm liking what I see here.
