OK, I don't know how many other people are waiting for this, but I am. Can't wait to kick arse as a villain or a hero. It seems that the rota at present stands at:

So hopefully, this is not the full rota as you can see there's no FFV or FFXII or a hero for FFVI or FFVII. Though if I had my way, the missing ones would be:

FFV: Bartz and Gilgamesh
FFVI: Locke or Terra I hope
FFVII: I have a feeling if there is one, it will be Cloud - the inclusion of Sephiroth kind of points to this.
FFXII: If this one makes an appearance (which I highly doubt) I would hope it would be Basch and Cid.

Anything I've missed? Any you'd like to see as part of the rota? Discuss.

They seem to be stopping at X. Which is a shame considering the strong characters in XI and XII.

My money is on Terra. Mainly because it's a massive sausage fest at present and Terra is the "main" hero. Jecht is a shitty villain as well. What's his special? Making people cry?

I'm pretty sure V's villain would be Exdeath. Gilgamesh has been in almost every Final Fantasy since. Cloud is being held off as a "surprise" probably, since everyone seems intent on mangasming to him in whatever bollocks he gets his little spikey head dragged into - Cooking with Cloud anyone? Lots of milk-based recipies!

I love the design for Firion and the Onion Knight, glad Nomura didn't bling them up too much. I haven't seen anything on Cecil yet. Have to go look around for that.

If XI was included, I'd like the Shadow Lord and Zeid/Lion and for XII? Balthier (Even though it would be that abdominally mutated son of a prostitute, Vaan) and Vayne Solidsnake.

However, they said there would be special characters to use outside of the story mode. Whether they'll be interesting characters or just the cast of FFVII in their entirety is another mystery though.

How is there no Gilgamesh? Seriously, the first Final Fantasy fighting game comes out where characters fight each other with mainly swords or general melee weapons and the one character that uses swords, quests for swords and wants to kill you for swords who is in practically every damn FF game is not in said game's roster yet? That hurts especially after FF XII where he became a personal favorite of mine.

Meh, I'm sure he'll be unlockable or at least a baddy one has to fight along the way like a metal Mario type of deal.

I'm just happy to see FF heroes and villanis fighting each other especially Ultimecia as she was so underused in VIII when she had serious potential but was just thrown at you last minute.

I was looking through the most recent trailer, and took a few snapshots of some of the more intriguing moments of the trailer. They raise a few interesting observations.



This is a shot of the villains in the game. Notice that there are 10 figures. Who could they all be?



This is a shot of the heroes. Only seven have been confirmed so far, but notice as well that there are ten figures. Who are they? The next shot at least confirms who one of them is.



This image has been intentionally brightened for clarity, so you can make it out more clearly. The partial figure on the left is, without any questionably dubt...

But... who the hell is the guy on the right? He has a red cape, and a strange looking weapon, but I severely doubt that it's Vincent. A re-imaged Butz (Bartz) maybe?

Did a bit more looking around today and according to Wikipedia (And we all know how accurate it is) that the villan for FFV is ExDeath. But looking at the official site, they don't even have Cecil and Golbez on it.

FYI the demon and god-like lady you see at the end of the trailer are Chaos and a new character called Cosmos. It also seems that the rumours about the script being twice as long as Crisis Core's is true as to finish the story you have to play through as all 20 characters. THere's also apparently a few hidden characters as well - hopefully Gilgamesh.

So XI is represented. Though I'd rather have Zeid

I'll guess the Shadowlord will be the villain.

They've actually updated the web page with some of the new characters.

A little bit disturbing though, Terra has been renamed Tina.

But at least our hero in V is still called Butz

So after watching the newest trailer on the official website it seems that the final main line-up is:

3: Cloud Of Darkness and Onion Knight
4: Golbez and Cecil
5: ExDeath and Butz
6: Kefka and Terra
7: Sephiroth and Cloud
8: Ultimecia and Squall
9: Kuja and Zidane
10: Jecht and Zidane

Plus Chaos and Cosmos which I'm guessing will be playable by the end. No Advent Children Cloud either - he's got his FF7 duds on.

The Promotional Trailer is definitely worth the watch even if it's just for watching Terra and Ultimecia have a FMV fight sequence for a split second

Tina is Terra's Japanese name. Terra was just made up in translation because Tina was deemed too "generic" for a hero.

They'll probably announce something at the Final Fantasy Fanfest in Hollywood in December, since the last announcement was the Japanese one... they never do a sodding PAL one though >.> Assholes.

Game is out!! ...and it is currently sucking hours and hours of my life away, wrapping my days in its evilly tantalizing and irresistible tendrils of fanservice and prettiness.

It's been a while since I've stayed up all night playing a video game. XD It's a LOT of fun... and it reminds me, in an amusing way, of what a brainwashed minion of Squex/FF I am... *LOL*

They put an XI hero against a XII villain for much fun - though I suppose they do use the same battle system...

Apparently, Shantotto and Gabranth both have their own stories, even though they're optional.

Ah that's right, the judge is Gabranth...

I thought they had judges in FFXI anyway?

No Ivalice-style Judges in FFXI. There are Game Masters, which are just the Square police and all they do is send you to prison when your being a prick to people or ban you. They're real people though, so I wouldn't count them in canon.

Just beat the game this weekend... but that doesn't mean I've done everything! In fact, I've apparently only done about a third of what there is to do in the game. XD And I guess I'm a total fangeek because I absolutely DO want to complete even more.

Totally worth the wait...!

KEFKA KICKS SO MUCH ASS

I love his voice (sounds like Captain Buggy...) and love the way he runs.

Well, my sister's pretty much beaten the game already but I haven't been able to try it yet myself. I'm so busy with other games right now... it looks very pretty though.

And uh... Ultimecia isn't wearing any underwear under that skirt, is she? Whenever she falls and stuff, all you can see is an eerie shadow between her legs...
