I had a student at work today in business calculus, who was unable to tell me how to find the area of a triangle. Or how to subtract 18-6 without checking her calculator. When I told her .5*12*10 was 60 without using a calculator, she thought I was a super genius. It took all of my willpower to stay professional. Honestly, how do you pass your college entrance exams with that sort of math performance?

I weep for businesses. If this is the caliber of person they put into accounting or finance, then we are screwed.

EDIT: It's looking like an all-nighter! I might actually be awake when you European-types are.

But I have no dreams of making a career in finance/accounting, even though that sought of math is easy.

Your math skills might not be great, but I have hope that you can subtract two numbers less than 20 from each other. This was an impossible task for this girl.

Phew, all done. Ironically, my last one was the longest in terms of word-count, but shortest in terms of page length. Only three figures in that one, as opposed to the 60 or so I had in the first.

Now to sleep in a chair in the lobby for three hours or so until I have to wake up again. Joy.

Nix that couple hours of sleep thing, I managed like one before I woke up. Today is going to be a day full of coffee. Coffee and baseball though! It's very likely I'm going to be loopy by the end of the day, if not already.
