Western-made FF still in the works

AP | September 22, 2009

GamesIndustry.biz has claimed that the Final Fantasy XII related project that contributed to the demise of Sweedish game developer GRIN is still in development.

On a news story on their site they say that sources close to Square Enix confirmed that the game was shifted to another developer when GRIN's builds of the game caused quality concerns at Square Enix.

Details of the project surfaced when GRIN employees began posting artwork from it after the company went under. The project was believed to be a spin-off of Final Fantasy XII set in the Ivalice universe.

GRIN is a solo studio, not from Eidos... they kinda worked with other publishers - they did Bionic Commando for Capcom for example.

But they weren't part of any other studio. They were doing a game for Square and Square took it away and then they went under because they lacked funding.

I wonder if Square's moved the project to an Eidos Studio, though?

GRIN is a studio from Edios, right?

And it's the first time for them to develop a related game from FF series?
