FF Versus XIII may miss out on E3 2010

AP | February 17, 2010

Unforeseen changes to Final Fantasy Versus XIII may prevent it from being shown off at E3 2010 according to a new Famitsu interview with Versus boss-man Tetsuya Nomura.

In the interview Nomura said "We were hoping to debut it at E3, but we're not sure now."

The delay seems to have been caused by changes to the game's map system. Previously the map system was reported to be styled like older FF games, with Noctis able to walk from town-to-town on a mini-scale world map. Nomura's interview seems to indicate the world map may have been dropped in favour of menus or more linear progression like Final Fantasy X and XIII.

"For displaying characters on the world map, we were originally planning on using the method used by FF#, with a small Noctus running about on the screen. But that didn't look too great, so we ended up switching to the method used by FF#" he elaborated to Famitsu. At a guess, the hashes there would be 7 and 10.

We'll bring you the Versus latest as we get it. Its sister game, Final Fantasy XIII, is out in the West in March.

Changes to the game may mean it doesn't make it to E3 2010 after all, says Nomura.
