Hashimoto: Expect a "larger exchange of ideas" between Square Enix & Eidos going forward

AP | July 1, 2010

High-ranking Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto predicted there would be a "larger exchange of ideas" between Eidos and Square Enix development teams going forward, citing the fact that games were already deep into development when the takeover happened for why we haven't seen more collaborations already.

Speaking to our sister site RPG Site, Hashimoto was responding to a question about the lack of collaboration between Square Enix and Eidos so far.

Hashimoto cited Deus Ex: Human Revolution as an example of collaboration in action. "The trailer which is running outside was created by Visual Works, our CGI team in Japan, so there is that kind of collaboration that will happen," he commented, though we continued to push him on if there'd ever be a deeper collaboration than cutscenes being produced by Square Enix's CGI experts.

"Again, to give you an example I was just taking some time out from the show to speak to the guys at Tomb Raider, and there’s always constant communication going on between the Japanese and Western side of the company." Hashimoto continued, before offering a hint that something more might be coming. "Many games were already a long way along by the time the takeover happened, but going forward there will be a larger exchange of ideas going on."

Expect deeper collaboration between the two going forward, then! Third Person Shooter Final Fantasy, maybe? Nahhh. You can catch the full interview over at RPG Site through this link.
