Nomura: No 'next' for Dissidia
February 22, 2011
Tetsuya Nomura has told Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki PlayStation that Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy will be the last title for the Dissidia series unless the series makes some serious changes - stating that, right now, there's no plans for a "next" Dissidia right now.
According to Japanese blogs, translated by andriasang, Nomura tells the magazine that there's no next for Dissidia and in its current form the spin-off series ends with Duodecim. He does go on to add that Dissidia could appear in a completely different form, though, going on to say
"I'd like to have the staff make a different genre."
Nomura also confirmed that there wouldn't be a 'Universal Tuning' or 'Final Mix' style international re-release of Dissidia 012 in Japan thanks to the fact that the West is getting the game almost simultaneously with Japan this time - meaning there's no time to tweak or change the Western version past localization.
